DatUdderGuy,
If you would like, you can try to find me on the IBM site and sametime me. I would like to solve this issue and then I can write something on the forums here on how to solve this issue. I was unable to reproduce your error. So I will walk through some steps to check. Thanks, -Uplinger |

This is not the proper way to connect to your account, but you could try using the weak account key to see if you are even able to connect to WCG. To find your weak account key, click My Grid, and then My Profile on WCG's website. Then 1. Stop the boinc client 2. Go to the data directory and create a text file. 3. Paste the following lines into the text file, replacing the words WEAK_ACCOUNT_KEY with the one on the website. <account> 4. Save the text file, then rename it to account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml 5. Start the boinc client. Thank you BobCat13. After removing and re-installing Boinc *again*, I used your suggestion with Sekerob's change in account key entry and got a change. There is now a specific reference to WCG in the communication sequence. However the result is ultimately the same. The user name or password is reported to be incorrect, when I *know* it is correct. DadUdderGuy,
----------------------------------------Something is weird with the url path in the log 2x http:// : http://http:/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/; with the second http missing the second forward slash as in http:/ . Is that correctly entered in the account_www.worldcommunitygrid.org.xml file? Specifically, go to the attach box and do not pick rather enter the url WITHOUT the http:// prefix so www.worldcommunitygrid.org . For testing I attached to a GPU crunching project and the log shows a clean url no double http:// (but my client is a different version, so don't know if this is just something wrong in the way the message log prints it out) Now, if you look in the Projects tab it should show you're attached to WCG as when this line 8/15/2010 11:51:02 AM||This computer is not attached to any projects is no longer there and it specifically the Computer ID is not assigned. ** Plz do try the boinccmd line to see if that kicks something if the client is not showing in the project tab to be associated to WCG. If attached, detach first and then do the boinccmd. cheers

DatUdderGuy Hello DatUdderGuy, I believe that Uplinger thought that you were an IBMer and could contact him on sametime, which is an IBM Immediate Message feature. There is a fix for some IBMers that have downloaded a specific version of World Community Grid that does not allow them to change their member name (which you referenced in one of your above posts). If the members are unable to assist you in the forums, please feel free to contact Uplinger via the "contact us" feature. Thanks. Tedi |

Howdy DatUdderGuy,
Can you please follow these steps to help give me a clean slate on fixing this issue? 1. Uninstall the agent using the control panel and add/remove applications on Windows. 2. Manually delete C:/ProgramData/BOINC directory if it still exists. 3. Download an updated version of the client by clicking on this link. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dl/boinc_6.10.58_windows_intelx86.exe (Save it to your Desktop or somewhere easy to remember, please don't just click run) 4. Right click on the downloaded icon and choose 'Run as Administrator' 5. Follow the install, on the third screen (if I'm remembering correctly) you will want to click advanced and install it as a service. Here are the install instructions https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/ms/installInstWin.jsp 6. Let us know what happens for you on this install. Thanks, -Uplinger |

Maybe did you not restart the client? If once read, the client might not try rereading. I think that if the http:// is not found in it's entirety, the logic is trained to prefix http:// to the url. Anyway, the experts are on deck, so go with that and please edit your last post and corrupt the account key.

Thanks, -Uplinger Dear uplinger - Please confirm you want Boinc version 6.10.58 installed, rather than latest version, 6.2.28. I have just performed your "clean slate" list with 6.10.58 and got an identical result. Prior to that, I downloaded 6.2.28, again(!) and also had identical result. Which version do you wish to proceed with? Thanks, Ken [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Aug 20, 2010 5:18:48 PM] |
