Based on the totally unidentified "stable" environment that CEP2 will work in, I'm going to refrain from changing anything at all to my Ubuntu 10.04 LTS install, kernel 2.6.32.25 on ext4 filesystem and advanced graphics features of interface switch off (GNOME) and continue to crunch this science on 2 of 4 cores (manual managed). To follow the other thread, hopeful that test of Debian by RaymondFO will turn out positively. Why are you running a 9.10 kernel on a 10.04 install? Just curious.Mark Shuttleworth, a kingpin of Ubuntu/Canonical who recently stated on kernel matters: "This is not a democracy", wrote that Lucid Lynx 10.04 LTS (Long Term Support) is locked to run with the 2.6.32 kernel... one news sippet: http://mediakey.dk/~cc/what-to-expect-ubuntu-10-04-lts-the-lucid-lynx/. Will stick with that until full and stable support of OpenCL is implemented... in a version above 2.6.33.

That is interesting because all my installs run on 2.6.34. 10.04 jumped from the 32 kernel to the 33 kernel the first week of testing. Ended with 2.5.34.
I have an install that is current and it is running 2.6.34. Most folks, in testing, thought that 10.10 should go with the 2.6.36 kernel but we stuck with 2.6.35. My 11.04-testing (upgraded to the tool chain) installs are awaiting the 2.6.36 kernel. |

And yours has remained "LTS"?
----------------------------------------There's a minor suffix too which rapidly incremented and is now I think on 44 i.e. 2.6.32.44

Yes it is still the same old 10.04 but I really should not post when groggy.
It is using the 34 kernel because I put it on there. My memory of rapid kernel advances is from the last round of testing (10.10). I put the 34 kernel in to see if the bugger would work on my box (10.04 will just not work well here). Had a moment of clarity last night and checked my wifes laptop that has 10.04 on it. Sure enough, I was talking through my hat in my last post. Sorry, maybe I should turn my self in for elder care. |

I may well be senile but we did just get the 2.6.36 kernel for 11.04 testing.

Mentioned a number of times ... WUBI... a benchmark versus the full Ubuntu: http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article...buntu_wubi_1010&num=1
