Another problem I suspect happened to some, while waiting for launch, they run HCMD so they have a fairly rapid turn over of cache, which can cause the DCF (Duration correction factor) to deflate then when they got first few wu, system was estimating 20-30 hrs run time, so got more to fill cache, then as dcf reset what had started as 2-3 day cache ended up being 6-10 Or what started as a 7 day cache ends up being almost 20 days. And, of course, boinc initially processes the WUs in fifo order, so does all of the HCMD2 ones first before even starting on the DDDT2 ones. Given the 14 day deadline, they never become urgent enough to preempt that order. I manually aborted extras which clearly (to me, not boinc) won't finish by the deadline. fwiw, I don't see any of mine on anyone's lists in this thread, so none of you may care. Anyhow, I can easily see how some machines might only have started running their DDDT2 WUs a few days ago and suddenly find they have 2 weeks' worth to do and only 1 week to do them in. |

Enough is enough, we need a DCF reset button [or a util to set it back without need to exit client]. This currently rather abbrasive parm is a giant thorn in all crunchers sides.

Here is something to make all of you feel a touch better.
I got one and only one WU - it has now been in PV jail 9 days and is starting its tenth. :( At least most of you got at least one validated :D |

Just a touch Lee Ann, and only briefly, for just now saw my 26 all projects PV jail with the 6 of 8 monster jobs I had, sitting at bottom of the furthest furthest page 16, after almost 264 hours from submitting them for the big crunch.
----------------------------------------The good news is that the reported average run time has shot up this morning for the newly validated tasks... form 45 hours to 56 hours... more arrivals tonight :D The hours per job by day: 37,19110 (19th) 40,22377 42,77939 44,64689 46,20513 50,11929 47,84560 44,97133 45,05003 56,59082 (28th)

This currently rather abbrasive parm is a giant thorn in all crunchers sides. Sill nothing for me. 3 1/2 days without a validation ... two weeks of silence on the problem from WCG. But no worries, my team is off to POEM for an AA and NO WCG for me!! Chances are my 6 remaining wu's will still be in jail in two weeks. Laissez les bons temps rouler. Chances are my 8 remaining wu's will still be in jail in two weeks. Oh, I very much doubt it Dataman, I'm all ready and waiting for the 14 day deadline (which I believe is this Wednesday) to come up so that I can grab at least 2 'retreads' to run on the 2 cores that I've got available - and I'm sure that there's plenty more crunchers in the same hunt as I am |

My guess, the very most of unvalidted wu's will be resent...
This means, beginning of Thursday morning (UTC) we all can hope, to get a few more of the first run. The dead-line will of course be shorter, and to be honest, I do really hope, to get as much as even possible... So, in about a week from now (or a tiny bit longer), I guess the current run should be completly validated. But.... what then...??? When will we get the next packages to crunch...??? My badge hunter heart is really suffering... So much crunching capacity, and so much incertitude, when we can go on with improving our statistic and badges... Don't let us wait to long, we all are hungry...!!! |

----------------------------------------yes i am badge hunting and i am hoping for a bronze at lease sometime soon but right now im just getting every other job out there cause phase A is so slow and so far between work units. as i have said i have gotten crunched and returned 2 of these work units and have almost 3 1/2 days done both have been validated but until more show up for me to crunch i am stuck without the badge wondering how some of you have managed to get so many work units and how unlucky i must be |
