I got one that has a 4dy report time instead of 10. Probably a repair one, with _3 or higher as the last bytes of its name. Yep that's it (pe0000_3) must have been a quick error. It's running fine so far 8hr in. edit:I do see one machine got Inconclusive BETA_erlc_a093_pe0000 and wingman also hopefully 3rd is the charm. I ended up with 24 beta's the first one went out as a error, it looks like they will take 11hrs each, only one of my machines got them, my dual core. the way I got so many is, when I read that they were planning on sending out some beta's in 24-48hrs, I created a new profile for my fastest computer I have it connect every .1 days, I set the buffer to 9 days, I deselected my current project and selected 1 that is intermittent. and made sure the beta option is selected. and I just have been watching the beta threads waiting for a announcement, and when one came I just kept on clicking on the update button in the boinc. Got none this time. I'll try hunterkasy's method next time. I assume you have the box next to "If there is no work available for my computer for the projects I have selected above, please send me work from another project" unchecked? |

May be coincidence, but up to now three WUs of type se vaidated (e.g. WU BETA_erlc_a069_se0000), and some others (e.g. BETA_erlc_a153_se0000) became inconclusive. The difference is that the succeeding WUs ran uninterrupted and the inconclusive ones restarted from checkpoint. Also, the result log for the vaidated files ends with
wcgStepsDone = 200000 wcgSteps1 = 200000 wcgCyclesDone = 0 wcgCycles = 0 pctComplete = 1.000000 called boinc_finish and for the inconclusive ones it ends with wcgStepsDone = 199900 wcgSteps1 = 200000 wcgCyclesDone = 0 wcgCycles = 0 pctComplete = 1.000000 called boinc_finish Does this have any implications on the result files? |

Can someone confirm 'problems' after restarting a computer?
----------------------------------------Something like: After some minutes it's correct again: OS: XP Mode from Windows 7 64 bit PS: @ mweisensee Result: inconclusive after showing Pending Validation for me and a wingmen. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Mathilde2006 at Jan 7, 2010 10:14:54 AM] |

Hmm,
now the first restarted WU turned invalid (BETA_erlc_a046_pe0000). Both wingmen validated, only my WU which restarted from checkpoint is invalid. :-( The result log has those last lines wcgStepsDone = 177800 wcgSteps1 = 200000 wcgCyclesDone = 0 wcgCycles = 0 pctComplete = 1.000000 called boinc_finish while both wingmen have wcgStepsDone = 200000 wcgSteps1 = 200000 wcgCyclesDone = 0 wcgCycles = 0 pctComplete = 1.000000 called boinc_finish My boinc log has no unusal entry and shows normal program termination. Could there be a problem with restarting from chekpoints? BTW, is there anyone with a valid WU which restarted from checkpoint? ;-) |

It's not the first occurrence of a restarted job not producing the exact same bit output as a one-go job. Wait for techs to respond possibly it sufficing to tune the validation rules.
----------------------------------------Meanwhile the first 2 pe jobs are about to finish, in one go, at 14:30 hours CPU time. No wingmen have checked in yet for the 4 beta jobs received. Oddly the a119 had peak VM use of 385Mb and the a136 just 43mb. In the last part they've only been using 11mb RAM, an interesting variety. Temps still normal running at 95% throttle (using ThreadMaster) on W7-32bit Centrino Duo 1800 mhz. edit: Output files per result were 8 for the total of about 113Kb. Sitting in PV without specials in logs.

I have four Valid, two Pending Validation, five Inconclusive, one Invalid, and two Errors.
----------------------------------------The errors: The system cannot write to the specified device. (0x1d) - exit code 29 (0x1d) The two errors, the Invalid, and one of the valids were crunched on the following machine: QX6700, Vista Ultimate 64, 8GB RAM EDIT: Added the Invalid result. EDIT #2: updated results. [Edit 3 times, last edit by David_L6 at Jan 7, 2010 4:29:07 PM] |

I have one invalid so far: BETA_erlc_a001_pe0000_1 The other two wingmen were valid though on this WU. This was on an i7-920 with only 4GB of physical RAM. On this machine, the beta's ran through ok, but I had a ton of hard drive activity while they were running. Noticeably slowed down the system. Not sure if it was because of VM swap or my checkpoint disk settings. As soon as the last of the beta's finished up on this machine though, the system went back to "normal" and is now operating smoothly.
