Is there going to be a beta with the ABC combination run at the same time? Or is the plan to move straight to production after the C beta is complete? A full ABC beta run would take a long time to finish. Possibly (I do remember there being a comment that, due to the changes which were required to fix the bugs in the type B's, that the type A's would need to be rerun - just for a check). Now, I don't recall seeing any type A's being retested, so they may be waiting until after the type C's have had their 'individual' Beta test (and any subsequent issues resolved). As you say though, a full type A -> B -> C test would take a long time, although I'd prefer it this way rather than have issues by putting it straight into Production without this test being performed. Obviously, we'll have to wait until Uplinger comes back online |

Well, I wasn't expecting that - I was just about to leave my computer for the night, when I checked the forum's for the last time and saw knreeds announcement
----------------------------------------Thus, I'm now processing 2, both (as you say Sek), with a 7 day deadline and currently, with an estimated time of 43 hrs; BETA_erlc_a081_ps0000_1-- BETA_erlc_a060_ps0000_1-- [Edit 1 times, last edit by gb009761 at Feb 3, 2010 11:26:26 PM] |

There must have been a lot to go around. I got about 1 for each core. At least on the systems that met the requirements. My poor notebook that is only on for 8 hours a day could not make the cut.

Got a few of these nice messages, ‘there was work but it was committed to other platforms’. Fortunately I still managed to pick up a few Betas this time round.
----------------------------------------Not sure about the wisdom of the 7day limit though! I reckon that if a 3GHz system running 24/7 will take 2days to crunch one of these, some machines will not make the deadline. 10 days for the short tasks and now 7 for the long tasks What will happen to the 200+h tasks? Ok, to keep everyone in the loop. The type B work units that were run the other day ran very well. We have continued our testing with Type C work units in Alpha and are preparing to start a BETA test of these work units. The application is considered a release candidate at this point. So we are retesting the type A's to make sure that nothing has changed. I am downloading some work for beta right now and hope to have a beta started tomorrow for type C work units. My responses may be slow during this time as I am on vacation but Kevin will let everyone know when the type C work units are released.
Also, reason for 7 day limits is we are wanting to get these results back quickly and advance to the next stages of testing! :) :) :) Thank you again, -Uplinger |

Well, turns out the 269 hours projection suffered inflation since the DCF somehow blew up to 5.6 on the 24/7 crawler. 12% at 8 hours into the job it looks to be getting done under 70. With 2 concurrent on the duo that's nice.
----------------------------------------Memory loads not too excessive at 210Mb peak per task, so far, and VM using 710Mb each. First test so can't say if this is smaller/bigger than previous A tests. Not suitable for the frequent booters or those that don't have LAIM on with permission to only crunch when idle. Each time it unloads it can loose several hours of progress as the checkpoints a quite a bit apart. 533 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 02:02:40 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a048_ps0000_1 checkpointed 534 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 02:02:50 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a050_ps0000_0 checkpointed 535 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 03:28:38 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a048_ps0000_1 checkpointed 536 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 03:30:11 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a050_ps0000_0 checkpointed 537 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 04:51:48 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a048_ps0000_1 checkpointed 538 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 04:54:24 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a050_ps0000_0 checkpointed 539 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 06:14:51 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a048_ps0000_1 checkpointed 540 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 06:18:45 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a050_ps0000_0 checkpointed 541 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 07:36:30 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a048_ps0000_1 checkpointed 542 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 07:41:26 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a050_ps0000_0 checkpointed 543 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 08:58:49 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a048_ps0000_1 checkpointed 544 World Community Grid 04-02-2010 09:03:58 [checkpoint_debug] result BETA_erlc_a050_ps0000_0 checkpointed
