My one and only Beta is at 27% after 10 hours on a quad. The other three cores are crunching HFCC and Faah. With luck this will advance me to the halfway mark towards achieving the elusive bronze.

Memory loads not too excessive at 210Mb peak per task, so far, and VM using 710Mb each. First test so can't say if this is smaller/bigger than previous A tests. As they appear to be of a size that would run fine on a PC with 256MB RAM, at least if running linux, maybe the resource requirements will be pulled back a bit for production? |

I really wonder, how some guys here achieve to get several ß-WU's here every time... I had two of them in the past 9 months...
More than 20 cores crunchin 24/7 with no cache (so very reliable and very fast returners), and so less of ß-work... It's a little bit frustrating... |

Start a separate threat totto73. This has been discussed so many times.
----------------------------------------Given the competition for so few, don't count on there ever being an FAQ to cover this... those that don't visit frequently should at least have a minute chance of getting one when their client happens to talk to the servers when the test jobs go out.... usually with very little notice, else it turns into server hammer time... update, update, update.

Will credit be given if the server aborts a Beta task because it will not finish in time?

A task is not aborted because of the will not finish in time **, unless bad and yes last I saw a tech arranged credit for the CPU time reported by the aborted jobs. A future client will cancel unstarted tasks if the scheduler computes that it even if it were started now, not finish in time. It will do same with overdue jobs anyhow.
----------------------------------------** There's a red line printed in the messages to consider aborting as credit might not be given. WCG operates though with an unofficial grace period... if it's completed before the quorum complete task is removed from the db [no longer in the RS pages], then credit is granted.... else it's really too late.

Your machine has to ask for work while the Betas are going out. I usually manage to snag a few but I missed out this time. |

yea i always wonder why i didnt get at least 1 beta work unit but my compuerts probaly only ask for work once a day (each) so thats 4 connections max and i know some of you serious beta crunchers have more than 4 computers and probaly have some agressive WU gathering techniques or so. i would love to get bronze beta but as its lookin i will never get it since i still need 6 or so days after 5+ years
