Not that I know. I will not consider it in my system. It is in the satellite category.

Is your latest system design based on this? http://www.iau.org/public_press/news/detail/iau0807/
----------------------------------------I did not found any newer news. Therefore I must assume, your design ist correct. :-) |

You are right. This is the international body that assigns, validates names, findings etc.
----------------------------------------The SEDNA issue remains open at this time. I think SEDNA will become eventually a dwarf planet if its diameter is confirmed. ![]() |

I am very happy to announce that PLUTO has now integrated the solar system and is orbiting since 11:00 PM UTC.
----------------------------------------It has added another 8 threads at 3.7 GHz, and thanks to the excellent Triton88 CPU cooler from Asus, runs at core temps of around 60 C. There is some more overclock margin that I keep for later use. ![]() |

PLUTO is running the coolest of all my CPU's around 50-54 C. It is an Core i7 950 running at 3.7 Ghz. All the others have core temps around 75 C.
----------------------------------------The Asus Triton88 cpu cooler does an excellent job. A small diversion here: it is important to use a very good thermal paste (high thermal conductivity) and that is fresh. This means not too viscous and thick, which is what happens when the paste starts to dry over time. Very little is enough as it's role is just to fill in the micro imperfections between the two surfaces to avoid empty micro spaces. In a perfect world you would not need paste at all. Two perfectly flat surfaces and with a perfect mirror finish need no paste at all, but in the real world this is not true. I will slowly start switching my CPU coolers to this model. I used the Arctic Cooling Freezer Xtreme Rev 2 (ACFXR2), but it is no match. The Triton88 is 50% more expensive though, but it is worth if you overclock seriously. The ACFXR2 is mich more quiet then Triton88 but in my basement who cares, and the humming noise of 42 fans all lit in blue Led light that cast dark blue reflections at night in the darkness of outer space (my small basement place if you see what I mean). I have also good news for Sek who wanted more power for his 400 TFlop machine: another planet (dwarf) CERES has started today orbiting in the asteroid belt between MARS and JUPITER, and should send it's first WU's in an hour or so. It will take a day or two until it becomes stable. I used again the Triton88 and a Core I7 920 (smallest CPU) at the moment running 8 threads at 3.3 Ghz with core temps around 55 - 57 C a little hotter then PLUTO but with a much higher overclock ratio. There is still a good margin available but this will be for later. I agree with Movieman that the potential of overclocking of the 920 seems incredible. The hottest running planet is JUPITER at the moment, with 78-80C. It is a core i7 975X running at 3.7 Ghz which I have the feeling runs hotter then the 950 or 920, but has a 50% higher memory bandwith and so clock per clock is more performant. With this last device I have completed the first phase of my Solar System. All planets are there except Earth which is the beneficiary. Remains the SUN (RA). Next step from April on when the six core i7 980X will debut, and I hope that equivalent Xeons will also appear. My idea would be to fire RA to life with 24 threads by June 21 at 11:28 GMT which everybody knows will be the exact time of the summer solstice in 2010. Stay tuned, more to come. ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Hypernova at Feb 6, 2010 9:29:27 PM] |

Should you paint your rigs in their known colors, Hubble made images showing Pluto has been changing face and hue. http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20100204/ap_on_sc/us_sci_pluto

Sek your are not very far, they are not painted but each rig is badged with the corresponding planet. I will post shortly some pictures about the rigs and badges.
----------------------------------------The new picture of PLUTO is very nice. I will change from the one I have already. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Hypernova at Feb 6, 2010 9:30:52 PM] |

Let me share some picture about my system (enjoy):
----------------------------------------First the spaceship Nostromo main computer room (this may sound familiar to some of you) ![]() You have all planets except for JUPITER and URANUS that are in other rooms as they are used also for other work. One example of my planetary devices, here is PLUTO badged accordingly to Sek's proposal of latest Hubble Pluto photos. Each device has it's own wireless usb stick on top to connect with a wireless network which is on fast cable connection to internet. ![]() Example of display for the Mars device: ![]() The DVI Multiplexers which allow me to manage up to 8 Desktops with one display, keyboard and mouse. ![]() Here are some example of the badges which are attached on each device: ![]() ![]() ![]() And this is an essay for the future RA device's badge: ![]() ![]() [Edit 2 times, last edit by Hypernova at Feb 7, 2010 12:07:06 PM] |

Cool pictures. What are the costs of an average node? I prefer to know it in swiss francs, but I'm ok with Euro oder Dollar. :-)
