Do we have only one Ruby-Badge owner? No, I believe there are like 5 people with Ruby and zero with emerald or saffire. -Uplinger I got just a few more Edit:Got my hours and days mixed up [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 22, 2009 2:41:43 AM] |

I have 25 cores, and 23 of them are processing Beta's. How is this possible ? Reading this thread, we can easyly understand that a few members has got a lot of beta. We have a special thread about this beta on team France Forum and according to what people wrote, none of us has got any Beta ! So i wonder how it is possible to get 23 beta on 25 cores while thousands members are waiting for beta and saw nothing. Does WCG have a special list of members to sent the beta to in priority ? |

It is just a matter of being in the right place at the right time. Beta caches are normally pretty small so when the go up for grabbing they can go pretty quickly. I have my cache set to 0.3 and managed to grab only one...but that one ended up running for 107 hours.

I agree I got 4 on my quad (lucky request). I tried to get some on my i7 and they were gone already. I've got 22 Threads running and got 5 this round. It's just when your system calls and request additional WU's and Beta being there. This is probably the first beta WU's I've gotten in almost a year. (I think) |

For one person to get that many, they could have been lucky. When we loaded up the first 25 work units to be sent out. Which means 75 because of the initial 3 being sent. They were gone within the first 50 seconds. I knew they were going to be released and pressed update to slowly. (The reason I was trying to get one was to make sure they looked proper when being sent out.) There is no special list for members to get them. There is a high memory free requirement though on this beta. It was set to 756 MB of free RAM. So, some members may not have received any due to this requirement. Also, I would suggest that members double check to make sure they have the option for Beta checked by going to the link listed below.

There could be a couple of reasons as to why I got 23 beta WU's for 25 cores. First off, I got Wu 001 and 003 right when the beta started. So, I was one of the very first ones to get one. At that moment, I happened to be checking my boinc on how it was doing and noticed the downloading beta's. I then went to all of my other puters (at this location), which had been set at a .5 quota, set them to 1 day quota, and pressed update. 8 of my cores are on newer quad core I7 computers. So, those 8 cores are capable of crunching 16 WU's at a time. I crunch on a total of 11 computers and 25 cores. I am capable of crunching 33 WU's at once. In short, I am capable of crunching a lot more than others and, as others have stated, I just happened to be at the right place at the right time (to the second). In the last round of Beta's, I got a big fat ZERO.
