I was disappointed that I only received one (4 cores), but now that I know there was only 633 issued, I am happy with my single one. 3 hours down and crunching, estimate is 61 hours to go.

Managed to snag one with 16 cores in the water: BETA_ erlc_ a063_ ps0000_ 1-- ETA looks about 71 hours even though BOINC says early 2011 14 cores here; I snagged 1 ps WU, on a Fedora box... been running about an hour now, with 45 more hours estimated to completion. First checkpoint was exactly at 2%, as 'promised'. So, if you start checking around 11pm (UTC) Friday night the type B WUs might be coming. [edit1 - added guesstimate for type B WUs beginning... should we start a pool?] [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Dec 17, 2009 3:02:24 AM] |

[edit1 - added guesstimate for type B WUs beginning... should we start a pool?] Ironic, mine is a Fedora box as well. Recalculation indicates more like 60 hours to completion plus about 4 hours into it already. You're faster than I am but that should trigger the B types being released sooner. Pool idea is interesting but there might be one uncontrollable variable: will the techs release the type B WU's immediately upon receipt of type A results ? |

I'm guessing no... Anyways, to let everyone know, we will wait for all of the type A work units to complete first. Then, as we will in production, return the results from the type A work units to the researchers. They will check them and create the type B work units from them for us to download and distribute. Same step happens with the type B to C exchange. Hope this helps, and please let me know if you encounter anything strange on your beta work units. -Uplinger |

There were only 633 initial work units to be sent. Glad to have downloaded 1 task |

All 14 of mine are running smooth at 3% to 11% complete on i7 920's, Q6600's and the Pentium D. They are swaping just fine with Yoyo CPU wu's. Some are paired with GPUGrid or Milkyway GPU wu's using part of the core. Looking good so far.

Since this Beta test has minimum Quorum 2 and Replication 3, will the BOINC Client stop the Beta WU if the 2 wingman have already reported their results?

If not started, yes a message is send by the servers to cancel (abort) the task... that is if quorum validated. Until that has become fact, no message is send. An inconclusive min.quorum e.g would not :D

An inconclusive min.quorum e.g would not :D The most interesting words are "If not started...". So I understand that we have a chance to deliver the WU (and getting credits) even if our WU has been started already and will be returned as the third one, right? |
