Re: computational error ?

I am running all available projects on all my machines.
So far the computational error for HPF2 only occured on the i7 Windows7 machine. All others have finished the WUs just fine.

However, I haven't been getting any errors in the last few days, so maybe the issue (whatever it was) fixed itself.

I believe this guy did. lol I was just saying it happening to me so it can not be true that it is on only i7 and windows 7. and i doubt anything fixes it's selfish. i dont think their is any A.I. that smart in my Windows machine is any.

Re: computational error ?

No, it happens on pretty much any Windows platform. If W7 was an upgrade, can only suggest a full uninstall AFTER aborting or completing all tasks in cache, delete of the data_dir and program dir and a new install of BOINC of appropriate bit rate 32 / 64. I've tested just now an new alpha and still getting 100%.

That said, maybe Windows Defender is learning something or UAC? Occasionally I get asked the question about a new program and if it's okay to report/upload it to MS for analysis. Alwil Avast 5.0.259 beta continuing very unobtrusive. My quad W7 upgrade is slowly getting to a state where it was in terms of configuration before on Vista where HPF2 also ran fine on... since version 6.6.12 or so.

Re: computational error ?

This issue has been going on so long and there has been so much discussion I think the "which OS are most likely to bomb" are getting mixed up.

Windows 64 bit seems to be the problem OS for me.

Windows XP Professional 32 bit - no error.
Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit - no error.
Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit - lots of errors.

I have tried these with many different versions of BOINC Manager and that does not seem to make a difference for me.

Re: computational error ?

I beg to differ on the OS question. On one machine running Vista Business 32 bit I received around 30 errors in a couple days last week. I stopped running HPF2 at that point.

Perhaps it's related to faster processors. This machine has a Quad Core Q9450.

Re: computational error ?

this is why it is so complicated ... what works (or doesn't ) for one person is not the same for others ... my XP Pro 32 box has an i7-920 OC'd to 4 GHz and never misses a beat.

Re: computational error ?

i don't get any more errors it was just happened a few times.I never got any more errors after i reset the projected, things started to work right. I have Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit. i have a AMD turion64 2 core with 1 gig of RAM. i don't think i would give up on the project but I think their should be some tweaking going on. I believe they should have it so the computer could send back some sort of error message so someone could at least guess whats going wrong. some how add a troubleshoot diagnostic element to the program. Anyways i am all good with my WU now :)

Re: computational error ?

I just got my first computational error from FightAIDS@Home 6.07 faah9720_ZINC11826385_xJ1_xtal_00_0. this has not happen before even though i bin doing this project for awhile now. It says to reset the project. I am just making people aware that it not just one project that has this problem. i hope these problems will be fixed.

Re: computational error ?

Why not post a good bit of year message log from around the time slot where these "reset the project" show? If there is a zero status in those lines you could start working through this FAQ: http://worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16784 and it's not easy to fix... it's your computer though obstructing crunching progress which could include any of the security software as mentioned above!

Re: computational error ?

My Win7 64-bit machine started having these errors again. The OS is not an upgrade, it's a fresh install on a new machine. No mention of resetting the project, but I may try that when I get home.

And I'm not a guy. >.<
