Re: Who presides over the "challenges?"

If you are going to create a mechanism for "team sizing" challenges, i wouldbe great if the "size" was based on "active" (like returned results within last x days (30/60/90?) and not just member count - retired count.

I don't quite remember why (something to do with the DB?) but active member/device count overall seems to be elusive here; hence why we STILL don't have it on the global stats page and all old devices still show up in your device list.

Re: Who presides over the "challenges?"

Although it is logical that team size be added as a criterion for challenges one must not dream: this is not reliable at all for estimating the real power of a team. It does not take long to find a few teams where almost all active devices are under a single network administrator account and thus what can look like a small team may actually be a big one.

The RAC would probably be better but I don't know how easy that could be implemented, both in the stats and in the challenges. And still that would not be perfect with those big teams whose major contribution is on other grids and which can bring back several strong members for the time of a challenge.

But nothing is perfect anyway. Jean.

Re: Who presides over the "challenges?"

With all due respect.........can people not just read???

Challenge title says it all............shouldn't need a "system" in place at all for a simple thing like "10 members or less"...or even 1000+.

Sheesh how simple does it need to be? lol.

Heck it was in the challenge title.

In theory you are right.
But since Ukraine joins every challenge I guess they don't spend much time reading the titles.
Somebody from l'AF said they joined a bunch of challenges at once and did not read carefully enough...
I have never used the challenge procedures so I am not sure but I wonder if it is possible to pull your team out of a challenge once you have joined it
If it is not possible (or simply not easy) maybe that should be one of the improvements that the techs are considering for a future upgrade.

By the way, when I read one of your previous bright posts I wondered exactly the same: can't this guy just read... the Forum Policy for Members
And for you it is not in a foreign language...

Please avoid bringing WCG's forum down to the level of some British tabloids.
Thank you for understanding. Jean.

Re: Who presides over the "challenges?"

1. We call that humour in England, and yes it was intentionally "contentious" and

2. I read The Times tongue

Thanks for reminding me why I wandered off for so long in the first place.

Adieu!
