edit2: The bar coming through the menu is an IE(8) thing maybe? See it in there but not on FFX3.5.3 Didn't try it in FF. Enabling Compatibilty mode in IE8 has no effect btw. Still the same dropdown through menu bar. |

Trust nelsoc, our automagical elf, will fix this.
----------------------------------------What I like about the drop down menu's particularly the My Grid is that one can go from a Guest state to any of the My Grid sections in a single sign-in move... for instance the frequently visited Result Status page. What would be nice if users could specify a sort order, or WCG would set the set order default to newest to oldest returned. That's what folk mostly look for I think. What I don't like is being dumped back into a blank post draft screen, when a previous tab has one open already. Suggests the Sign-In some how expired again and the My Grid access wished to re-validate my access. I don't use Remember Me out of principle. WCG... this big is causing HBP on me ![]()

Okay, as I understand things reading this thread, the space in the header formally occupied by the username, point total and rank will be used for something new to come, thus that info at the top is correct. Under IE7 on Vista, I also see the different Sign Out button on the forum page plus mouseover on the Home thru MyGrid buttons doesn't work. One new thing I've not seen mentioned, the drop down menu for the Forums button only includes the first three categories. I would argue for including Community and Beta Testing though they should all probably be included for completeness. The other buttons seem to be oriented to completeness and not a functional subset.
----------------------------------------Edit: BTW, I love the font changes. The pages look crisper, especially the page headers! Seems MUCH easier on the eyes. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by keithhenry at Oct 16, 2009 3:12:51 PM] |

I personally, would really like to see the "Recent Threads" option listed in the Forum's drop-down menu. ![]() |

The Recent Threads being added to the Forum button menu drop down list definitely gets a seconding by me. Great opportunities in the dd-menuing feature to reduce the number of clicks moving around.
----------------------------------------It would indeed be great if we had the same dd menuing on the top bar buttons of forums as on the front page on the drive to accelerate navigation. If it's meant to be there, not on FFX 3.5.3.: edit: on the 'old' sign-out button I really only see a new one over the forums.

It did something but now when the IE8 browser is fully expanded or not high, in pixels, and hovering research it always seems to want to fold out up. Only see the bottom 4 items, not scrolling down to expose the remainder, rather disappearing. In ffx 3.5.3, the menu tries to nicely fit, partly below, partly above the button bar.

Hello WCG.
Below are my observations regarding the new look/layout/etc of the WCG website as tested from IE8, and from Firefox3.5.3, all running from Vista. I find good: Logging: simple and at the top. Content: uncluttered, simple, straightforward messages. For the video: It works. Possible inconvernience to WCG users: Under the "Research" menu: 1. For IE8, the menu folds out down to display submenu items but the lowermost part of the submenu is not visible and is unreachable/inaccessible. 2. For Firefox3.5.3, the menu folds out from the center with the upper-half of the submenu items at the top and the lower-half at the bottom. With this setup, all the submenu items are visible and with it, reachable/accessible. But, the submenu items are displayed in a list that spans a width longer than the width of the "Research" menu. That plays out to cover the adjoining (to the right of "Research" menu), the menus "Forums", and "Statistics". As such when the "Research" menu folds out, the "Forums", and the "Statistics" menu is inaccessible. I'll be doing furthur observations regarding the look and feel of the new WCG website. Bye for now. ; |
