Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I'm so pleased to hear this, David Autumns smile
And that you are painfree must be a relief. Was it so all the time?
How about the strength of your muscles? Have you been able to keep them fit?
shock To be honest, I didn't know the pins went through your flesh and bones
- I thought it was some putting-pressure-from-the-outside procedure.
You mentioned a contract you won with the NHS - which line of business are you in?

Finally on-topic:
Our Meteorological Institute in Denmark warns of a heat wave next week.
Is your British weather over-summerly as well?

Just got home Little Mermaid from the op to take off my Ilizarov Frame and I have taken off the amazing moon boot splint thingy they have given me and unwrapped the leg and...

It's GREAT biggrin

I can walk on my own 2 bare legs for the first time in 20 weeks and 2 days blushing

No pain - Just very nervous at the moment - I will soon gain confidence. Just walking on it very gingerly. Back to see the Man with the Spanners™ (although he won't need them) at the end of the Month. So, time + Gavriil Ilizarov's absurd idea of punching metal pins through your bones ...works amazingly

Gerald how are you getting on?

I am happy for you!! For me I sad still have a hard time walking--my left knee was crushed and very slow to heal!!

Oh Gerald !!
Keep up the physio and you'll get there - keep going. Sorry to hear

Little Mermaid I'm a Telecoms Engineer. Every day at work, currently, I put those Dial 1 for Appointments Dial 2 for Prescriptions ...Your call is recorded etc (I'm sorry that's me who makes those) and I program all the phones in a doctors surgery. I create cloud based telephone systems. I have been doing telecoms since 1984 and there's been a whole load of changes along the way.
--
One of the benefits of the Ilizarov frame is, unlike a cast, you can (after 2 1/2 months of effort) walk with a broken leg and start your physio and keep moving
I could walk with restricted mobility the day it came off and I hope fairly soon to get back to normal (but who wants to be normal biggrin) It's black and blue at the moment but it will heal.

In the UK it is closing in on the Hot Summer of 1976. I have really missed out as a metal frame out in the sun is not a good idea ... I didn't want to sizzle like a Shish Kebab biggrin

It's just the yin and yang of the weather smile

It's Scorching at the moment ...but then it is Summer

No, we wouldn't like you to be fried on those spits shock Good you were de-installed in time.

Oh, I wish you could invent something for the doctors' phones that put you right through!
It's a very frustrating hurdle for people who are sick
- and those who are not sick already are closing in on it after having been through that mill ...
2½ months before you could walk! With a cast you could have done that faster, couldn't you?
But then again, it seems as if that instrument allows for precision work from the outside without a knife.

We had our heat record in 1975 ringing 36.4 C.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

July rushed by in a (heat) haze so here a day late...

July 2018 the warmest July in my record 23.351C. 0.126C warmer than July 2012

The yearly running average temperature is 12.844C
The average of all the average temperatures is 12.861C
So the last 12 months have been 17/1000th of a degree below my average - so perfectly normal

159,567,952 individual temperature records to create the graphs above

onwards....

That's irony of fate, isn't it!
Are you feeling well?
On topic
Denmark chalked up one more record in July:
Most sunny hours ever while counted.
339 hours - no less than 28 more than the previous record of 321 from 2006.
That's close to 11 hours every day of July's 31.
The norm is a mere 196 sunny hours.
It was also the fourth driest and the fourth warmest.
The harvest was far below normal ..... and finished long before normal - a field from yesterday's walk
Meteorologists are statistics maniacs biggrin

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

We reached the top at 2am this morning on the 9th August for 2018 biggrin

For the Northern Hemisphere we begin the cool down into winter again sad
As it is a 30 day average temp the real peak was a couple of weeks ago.

Over the record the 30 day average has typically peaked on the 8th August so this year we are 2 hours late!! The Earth is remarkable in it's reliability and stability

This is the highest 30 day average temp in the record but given our bad winter overall the last 12 months have been ...average

Hopefully the hysteria on the news regarding Man Made Climate Change will begin to abate now and the extremes of cold and copious snow we look forward to ..will also be caused by the 0.04% of the atmosphere that is an essential life creating trace gas

wink

Dave

More study needs to be done in aviation contrails causing raises in temperature.
