Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

End Of The World Set For 2047. Plan Accordingly

Bob Geldorf (and who the hell is he?) was off by seventeen years. But then I read he’s a singer and no professional climatologist. Since he’s some big hoo-hah celebrity, his predictions of doom made all the press.
Wait. It’s Geldof and it’s “Sir Bob” (do they give these titles to anybody who applies nowadays? Because I want one). Judging by the way the man looks, I’d say the world ended for him ten years ago and he just hasn’t noticed yet.

Have you seen this ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVoprjIcohw

10% of the bill is also being economical with the truth

laughing

Just got around to watching that there David. Thanks.

I got a snail mail today from my old supplier declaring their undying love for me and mainly blaming the government for the price rise.

It had their new prices that they wanted to charge me. Gas would have been 4.35p per kWh and electricity 13.32.

According to my calculations, that would be 8.2% up for gas and 7% for electricity, all before VAT.

So after my switch I expect to make an 11% saving on gas and a 13.2% saving on electricity for the year, which I expect will rocket up after that. That will be my time for another switch. The penalty clause if I switch early is only £5 per service, so a total of £10.

I have already done everything else that I can at the moment to cut costs. My whole house except for the bathroom has LED bulbs. My TV and monitor are LED backlit. My loft and walls are all well insulated etc, etc, etc.

Must keep my crunchers going though. Even those are quite 'green' with SSD's fitted. laughing

The politicians of all colours seem to live on a different planet from the rest of us.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Today it's been dark, gloomy, miserable, dank, dreich, gray, overcast, bleak, oppressive, heavy, just plain nasty. The kind of day where the sun never really gets involved and the whole day is like half an hour before sunset.
Nothing sparkled nothing glowed. Just flat and barely visible. A blindness. Distant Hills, Trees, Houses just didn't make the cut today in a fog that wasn't really there.
The kind of day for staying in bed all day or at least not bothering to get dressed. Keep the slippers on don't pass go don't collect £200 and just go straight back to bed in the hope that maybe just maybe tomorrow might be different. Even though we know in our heart of hearts it won't be.
Winter is going to be early this year and the SAD has already set in.

Don't worry, they tell us it's warming.

If only it was

That's the weather report from almost 54 degrees North and about 1.5 degrees West

I need to migrate

Just when you think it can't be possible the Nobel Peace prize givers have done it again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghouta_chemical_attack

Only 51 days have passed

Do they bestow this now insane award just for the insult and injury, and the column inches it generates ?

...and yes this is right on topic since that fateful day, 10th December 2007.

Why should anyone be surprised? They gave a Nobel prize to:
A terrorist-Arafat
A bigot-Carter
A pathological lying fear mongering hypocritical scam artist- Gore
A narcissistic arrogant divisive do nothing socialist demagogue-Obama

Thanks nanoprobe

I needed a good laugh biggrin

Though my only pique is with Mr Peaceful himself, Al "treads lightly" Gore and his cohorts, the blind to reality, anti-citizen - in every sense - UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Hi Whl.

I'll be fixing until March 2015 on my move. The prediction (along with the green element) is only for up

We are sitting on the largest gas reserves on the planet (outside of the US) for a relatively small Island. Surrounded on all sides by potential in wind and wave power.

It wouldn't matter what the wholesale price of gas was. We could have it wholesale.

LEDS all round this end (I spend way too much time wallowing in the bath) LED TV, fairly insulated.

Enormous bills around the £1500/year mark (Electric Heating)

...and there's just me !

I'm lucky enough to have decent wage. Too many others are having to go without.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Having had some brief exchanges with "my fellow Americans" about the Affordable Care Act, I can now fully see why your Government is still shut down and you have no budget passed to prevent going insolvent and "The most powerful Man in the World" now looks old and totally exhausted.

When the ACA was equated with Slavery (As it is mandated funding of the less well off and the unfortunate) the "American" psyche that has led to this fiasco was laid fully bare.

Good American's you have my pity.
I wish you and your President well.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Socialist Science in the Climate Science Neighborhood
By Anthony J. Sadar
Radical socialists (often disguised with the euphemism "progressives") have many potential avenues they can travel to arrive at their ends -- an end that justifies its means. And, rather than a goal to save lives or help the poor, the nefarious ends of socialists unfortunately seems to be their own power and control over the rest of us great unwashed.
Typically, the socialist trail is carved out through the down-trodden by whipping up resentment and jealousy and a sense of entitlement that is to be fulfilled by the social activist/community organizer. Furthermore, socialist socialites in high political and organizational authority are celebrated and idealized as saviors of the needy by the witting and unwitting media.
