Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

I think we might have bottomed out in the Northern Hemisphere Winter

The 30 day average reached it's lowest point on 13th Feb at 8am UTC/GMT

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Just bagged another Blue one this time for the Clean Energy Project Phase 2 peace

Gerald my current book is

Alone by Richard E. Byrd

Superb. On the surface it's about Admiral Byrd who is taking weather readings from a tiny shack at 80 degrees South through the Southern Winter of 1934 alone (as per the book's title) due to logistics who nearly succumbs to Carbon Monoxide poisoning and his struggle for life. But, every now and again, the true heart of the man punctures the prose.

And words like these turn up. While watching an Aurora he writes.

The day was dying, the night being born - but with great peace. Here were the imponderable processes and forces of the cosmos, harmonious and soundless. Harmony, that was it! That was what came out of the silence - a gentle rhythm, the strain of a perfect chord, the music of the spheres, perhaps.

It was enough to catch that rhythm, momentarily to be myself a part of it. In an instant I could feel no doubt of man's oneness with the universe. The conviction came that the rhythm was too orderly, too harmonious, too perfect to be a product of blind chance - that, therefore, there must be a purpose in the whole and that man was a part of that whole and not an accidental offshoot. It was a feeling that transcended reason; that went to the heart of man's despair and found it groundless. The universe was a cosmos, not a chaos; man was as rightfully a part of that cosmos as were the day and night.

Ever get that feeling that the powers that be are being more than economical with the truth?

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Remember this current tiff is about Nuclear Power and Iran's right to have it. (and consequently the potential to manufacture nuclear weapons)

If we held the moral high ground on that front then we might be able to hold sway with the argument.

Sadly we don't.

You can't forge ahead with new nuclear build on 8 sites in the the UK on the grounds of preventing "simply the biggest challenge facing humanity" - that being obviously Climate Change rolling eyes

and then put a trade embargo against Iran because they want to build 1.

Now if we were just actively decommissioning a failed 1950's technological experiment carried out in public that has had awful and long lasting consequences.....

things might be different

Here endeth the lesson.

Dave

Dave, while I understand your passion about nukes please don't tell me you're naive enough to believe Iran's nuclear ambitions are only to build electricity plants. Why would they be building weapons grade centrifuges if they only have peaceful nuclear plans? They have stated in no uncertain terms that their mission is to wipe Israel off the map.
