Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

There is no point--- America is Under Attack--

Meet our boss:

Maybe you wont recognize him, given the lack of interest in the US for what happens elsewhere... his name is Silvio Berlusconi, prime Minister of Italy. The subtitle reads depending on leaving a space between the La and Crime as: The Crime and Blood" or "Blood and Tears".

Like in the USA where Koch's & Rupert's agenda rules via channels such as Fox News, our Silvio is a media mogul too. They're sucking your brain, GeraldRube, a brainwash- virus will make you ever more shy of true reality, a servant to your darkest lords and they're not dark by complexion. Look up the reaching tentacles such as those of the Koch's, the true capo's of The [former] greatest nation in the world.

P.S. A chart some do not like, but JAXA is also part of the conspiracy... Arctic sea ice area [SIA] is about to fall beyond the 2007 low, in the middle of global cooling:

That's right retsof and even with Irene it is running below the average for the Atlantic (which the graph covers)

Now you won't have to worry about it any more. We all know the world is going to end on 12/21/2012 so it won't matter.

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

nice one nanoprobe

That graph perfectly parodies one posted some time ago with a straight line where none exists

I admit the sea ice cover at the North Pole this year is not good but unlike the more extreme element here I don't believe the sea ice area (or extent) is always in decline. It's taken 4 years to get back to this point with 3 good years in between. This last winter the cold air over the north pole dumped itself across the lower northerly latitudes with horrendous consequences such as the coldest December in 120 years in the UK - the second coldest going back 350 years and this effect was not confined to the UK.

There's only so much cold to go around

However the general trend at the moment is towards a cooler globe not a warmer one. Sea Surface Temps this year have tumbled which is manifest is the low accumulated cyclone energy (ACE)

http://coaps.fsu.edu/~maue/tropical/global_running_ace.jpg

This is not a Globe out of kilter. This is the Globe manifesting daily, seasonal and yearly variation in response to a myriad of inputs and variables

You know... what was previously known as Natural Variation

Now hijacked to beat us all over the head with a very big and weighty stick whichever way the natural variation goes.

Night all

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

http://www.rowtothepole.com/

They had to drag the boat the last mile to 78.595°N (The magnetic North in 1996) but they have made it

Let's hope they are able to make the journey home safely as they have rowed themselves into a pretty perilous position. One of the crew looks to have decided to do this instead of being present at the birth of his child!

They have done a grand job of highlighting the extent of Sea Ice coverage towards the pole

They are now in small unpowered boat 1267 km from 90°N (787 Miles) and surrounded by ice ...... that takes real genius d oh

----

For a bit of perspective

As the crow flies, the distance from Land's End to John o' Groats is 603 miles - the length of the UK

(for the pedantic - and there are few around these parts - the greatest point to point distance on the contiguous island with 3 Capital Cities known as the UK. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Land's_End_to_John_o'_Groats)

snip
...with 3 good years in between...

Brilliantly exact observation, when donned with that special eyeware... 3 ''good'' years in between:

It's the sun, the sun it is... hmmm and there it's quasi slumbering... yup it's in the models at 0.1% variability... always has been.

Illusions, Illusions... now 21.12.2012 being the next date as an excuse to sit on hands and let BAU continue.

Food for thought, but not to all!

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Think I'm going to write to Peter Sinclair to use that "...with 3 good years in between..." as a theme topic for his "Climate Denial Crock of the Week"

The Bremen Sea Ice Extent chart certainly sees credence in that "to take home" observation... the orange, yellow and blue line as ''good'', but left to interpret against what.

http://www.iup.uni-bremen.de:8084/amsr/ice_ext_n.png

Ask the Munich insurers how ''good'' their year was, so far, in the S1 billion dollar+ damage department for 2011. http://www.usatoday.com/news/nation/environme...d-weather-disasters_n.htm

The year is not even 2/3rd through. Read that the 5.8 earth-quake in Virginia was a clear sign of god. To take action, or sit on hands?

P.S. Picture off the USCGC Healy bridge, somewhere 80.55North in the Arctic: http://mgds.ldeo.columbia.edu/healy/reports/aloftcon/2011/20110826-0301.jpeg ... lots of sea ice, contrary to ''believe''.
