Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

After my old Corsa turned into the most effective machine in the heating of water to boilng point and beyond, driving down the street while making out like Old Faithful every 100 yards, it had to go to the recycling centre.

Being awash in free cash over Christmas wink I needed a top quality replacement.

Just had the call from the garage....

It's fuel pipes have corroded and need replacing - £160 - Bargain!

Value for money as I have been spraying 128.9p/litre straight out of the tank straight onto the tarmac as I tootalled along

biggrin <---because you have to smile

Considering "The Science is Settled" on this one it's amazing how many satellites are being launched to investgate some of the many variables involved in our Climate don't you think?

Here's another one

http://www.nature.com/news/2011/110120/full/news.2011.32.html

Both instruments [onboard] will help scientists to better understand Earth's overall energy budget, says Hal Maring, project scientist for the Glory mission at NASA headquarters in Washington DC. "This really is a climate mission," Maring says. "We've got to know how much energy is coming in, if it's changing and how that energy affects the climate system."

thinking

wink

Scandinavian Sea may get too warm for cod

Rising water temperature may be stunting growth of young cod.

"The study estimated that a sea surface temperature of 19 degrees Celsius (66.20F) in summer, against an average 15.9 C over the past century, lopped 0.1 cm (0.04 inch) off a typical cod that reaches almost 10 cms long by autumn, it said."

That's 1 mm , or about 1 %!

Wonder what the p value (related to statistical significance) was for the data. And they say global warmists don't have an agenda.

While we wait patiently for Kevin to perform his magic which is as ever awesome peace

-----

Propagandists of the UK this is your moment to shine and there's £100 in it for you if you win money eyes

http://www.newhomefront.org/

Download the PDF here

Eric Blair was truly inspired in 1949 biggrin

We are launching a competition to find the best ways in which the wartime poster and public education campaigns can be re-imagined to help today's society understand the dangers of climate change, and what they can do to help. Wartime slogans such as "Is your journey really necessary?" remain relevant today when so much business travel could be replaced by video conferencing, for example.

the winning design will be used as the front cover of the next New Home Front report, which will be a compilation of the best images and ideas. This will be printed and distributed, and presented to Parliament. The best designs will also appear on the New Home Front website in a downloadable form, so that people can print them off and display in workplaces, schools etc.

I can't wait

The preface to the pdf says

"The changes now underway in our climate, if unchecked, pose probably
the greatest threat to Britain that we have ever faced. Our health and
security, our society and way of life, our natural environment, even our
coastline, are all at risk from uncontrolled natural forces – disease,
drought, flood and storm. In terms of the human and financial cost
in the UK and internationally, the impact over the coming decades has
been compared to the world wars of the twentieth century"

Yes of course, now draw back the curtains dear and have a good look out the window

It's cold and miserable...... because it's January

Average Temperature over the last 24 hours 1.69C
Average Temperature over the last 30 days 3.63C

as measured by the 59 NOAA Weather Stations across the UK

Not unusually warm more unusually cold

This doesn't need a poster campaign as it's what is called Reality

I work in Telecoms and next week I will be enabling 6 people to work from home while being fully integrated into their Call Centre operation. As a result of my endeavours one Server (and it's Carbon Foot Print) will also be switched off

That said no amount of video and voice conferencing, teleworking and hot desking can replace people meeting together in real life 3D finished off with a genuine warm handshake after each has really been understood.

Sometimes yes that is worth the trip

Dave
