Hiya marysduby smile

Finally the penny drops with George Monbiot

http://www.monbiot.com/archives/2010/12/27/cold-hearted/

the Monbiot declares..

"Policies such as the European emissions trading system, the carbon emissions reduction target and the feed-in tariff are, according to the government’s Climate Change Committee, likely to throw another 1.7m people into fuel poverty by 2022. This is an outrage."

It is George it's an outrage. An outrage trumpeted by you and your ilk for way way too long. see http://www.monbiot.com/archives/category/climate-change/ for the evidence

You might not even think this utterance is by the same man wearing the same head

Maybe one too many whiskeys over the festive season d oh

---

Gerald I'm not fit as a fiddle but I am making progress sick Northern types (in the UK) have a tendancy towards the frugal and keeping warm at night appears to be an unecessary expense so I just joined the rest of them coughing and spluttering their way through Christmas. It has been years since I have woken up shivering. 2 days later my own bodily thermostat broke as a result and I haven't been able to guess whether the heating has been on ever since biggrin

I'm now back in the warmth of my own flat - bliss

Do you think this Dec 2010 peak might be caused by the cold and Monbiot's outrage?

I wonder if those additional tarriffs and taxes claimed in the name of Man Made Global Warming were removed...that peak might not be so high this year and a whole load of suffering people might instead be a tad more productive

For some, even still alive

????

The Global Warming crowd should love this.

For anybody who wants to see what Florida'€™s temperatures have done over the last hundred years there is a government website (NOAA) called Climate At A Glance.
http://www.ncdc.noaa.gov/oa/climate/research/cag3/fl.html
While NASA's chief exaggerator James Hansen claims the world is heating up at .1 degree per decade this website reveals that Florida has heated by only .03 degrees per decade over the last one hundred years. However, if you enter 1998 as the start date on the website you will see that Florida has cooled since then at the rate of -.87 degrees per decade. In other words temps in Florida are falling off a cliff. In fact in ten years Florida'€™s temperatures dropped more than the globe has supposedly warmed in 100 years. thinking

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

nanoprobe the good news keeps piling up, usually in big drifts biggrin

It's official 2010's December was the 2nd coldest December in at least the last 352 years beaten only by 1890 in the CET record

http://hadobs.metoffice.com/hadcet/mly_cet_mean_sort.txt

-0.7C (up in that top right hand corner)

which is 5.4C below "normal" for a December

Annual average temperature 8.83C which has left us with this graph showing 2010 0.64C below the average wrt to 1961-1990 of 9.47C

2010 is the joint 93rd coldest year (in the last 352) along with 1659,1676,1754,1902,1956 - until someone tweaks the figures again wink

Just before any fool pops up and claims it's the man made warming that is causing the cold let me just say this... It's the absence of warmth that is causing the cold. always has been and always will be.

Here's to a Happy 2011. I must go an find out what outrageous price they are selling petrol for this morning after the VAT rise.....

Make it a great year

Dave

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

CET 12-2010: -0.7°C. Rank: 351/352
Warmest December in this series was in 1934.
Average last 12 months: 8.83 °C.

straight from http://junkscience.com/MSU_Temps/Warming_Look.html

Let's see if Dr. James E. Hansen from NASA's Goddard Institute for Space Studies claims it globally as 1/131 as he did November 2010

biggrin

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

just in case you were wondering...

What happened to that Global Thermometer thing that that Dave Autumns promised us on the 1st of the 1st

don't worry I'm just giving it a dusting down to make sure this little project doesn't go off half cocked.

I am having a spot of bother with the DNS registry services who don't seem to want to solve my Glue record problem for my nameserver while it's still the holidays - they have no record of it ! biggrin

All the data is present and correct from the 1st Jan 2011 backed up on site and ftp'ed off site each day + a second data capture agent works simultaneously from home for a rainy day.

It will be along shortly. It's climate info there's plenty of time yet

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

From Midnight tonight

4.8p/ /KWh Night Unit's (Midnight till 7am)

12.08p /KWh Day Unit's

that is after paying 38.8p for the first 2 KWh of the day

Up another 5%

all prices in UK pennies - and as mentioned previously does not seem to include any funding for any new infrastructure we need to build to continue to generate electricity in the UK.

Let's just hope we don't set any 120 year records for cold in January !!!

Having the leanest and greenest number cruncher is pretty pointless when you have a 2KWh fan heater keeping you above freezing

The above is the lowest tariff possible in the UK !

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Especially because of why I crunch here I cannot support this World View

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=tGTk4S_HV2w

This is John Miller, a climate scientist working for NOAA

Population control one of the other insidious pieces of the Man Made Global Warming Jigsaw Puzzle.

Every Human is precious, it is why I give and want to able to keep giving to the research here on the WCG.

You are not a problem. You are the solution. A solution with great potential.

I only wish politician's, John Miller and those whooping in the crowd could take this onboard.
