Climate Change Is Solar Caused: Latest Research Determines Sun Drives El Nino & La Nina Cycles

Read here. IPCC and national climate agency climate models have failed spectacularly at predicting the ENSO climate pattern changes that results in major regional weather conditions. A new peer-reviewed study helps expalin why the climate models fail consistently: the under estimation of both the Sun's impact and a powerful negative feedback ('ocean thermostat').

"A report in the December 3, 2010, issue of Science has reinforced what many scientists have suspected all along: variation in the Sun's output causes significant change in Earth's climate.....This new work indicates that even small variations in the Sun's output can have significant affect here on Earth. This is unsurprising, since the energy that drives Earth's climate comes from the Sun. Monsoon floods and decades long droughts are both part of the natural variation driven by our neighborhood star, but every climate fluctuation that causes human discomfort is blamed on anthropogenic global warming.....Their [Marchitto et al.] work is in agreement with the theoretical “ocean dynamical thermostat” response of ENSO to radiative forcing. Here is their description of the work: The influence of solar variability on Earth’s climate over centennial to millennial time scales is the subject of considerable debate. The change in total solar irradiance over recent 11-year sunspot cycles amounts to <0.1%, but greater changes at ultraviolet wavelengths may have substantial impacts on stratospheric ozone concentrations, thereby altering both stratospheric and tropospheric circulation patterns.....This model prediction is supported by paleoclimatic proxy reconstructions over the past millennium. In contrast, fully coupled general circulation models (GCMs) [IPCC climate models] lack a robust thermostat response because of an opposing tendency for the atmospheric circulation itself to strengthen under reduced radiative forcing." [Thomas M. Marchitto, Raimund Muscheler, Joseph D. Ortiz, Jose D. Carriquiry, Alexander van Geen 2010; Science 3 December 2010: Vol. 330 no. 6009 pp. 1378-1381]

Hi fka marysduby,

Dr Roy Spencer last month shifted the base anomaly line line up. What do you think will that make his audience look like when selling that horse trap?

Fool you once, shame on you...

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Sek UAH didn't up the baseline they just changed the period over which the baseline is taken

We have been using 1961-1990 for a while now for the rest of the temperature anomalies but I don't know if you´ve noticed but it's 2011 these days and so UAH will be generating anomalies based on the 30-year mean annual cycle of 1981-2010 to match the 30-year normal time frame of many meteorology anomalies. This has replaced the older reference annual cycle of 20-years (1979-1998 - the total length of the satellite record back in 1998)

Initial runs have shown that the anomaly is reduced by approximately 0.1C .

Which makes Dec 2010 0.28C based on previous recording techniques

Just over 1/4C warmer than usual which if you guys have it your way causes Heatwaves in Russia, Tonnes of Snow falling the US, Droughts in Australia and Floods in Australia and now I suppose the Hurricane is Australia. You might even claim it is making the ice caps disappear.

It's amazing what can be attributed to a temperature rise of just over 1/4 of 1 degree C biggrin

We are not fools

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

Taking into account that the Brits generally use Gas for space heating.....

Compare and contrast the following graphs

have a look at the last 7 days of the daily average temperatures in the UK

and Electricity Usage over the last 7 days

This is an example of negative feedback

(n.b. there is a large weekday/weekend deviation)

Re: Not sure how much longer they will be able to keep crunching in the UK

biggrin

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-12365083

We can now see the Sun in 360 degrees and also in Hi Def via SDO (link above)

The huge self gravity contained nuclear fusion powered ball of gas could fit 1 Million spherical Earths within it's visible bounds (It's about 1.3Million times the cubic volume of the Earth)

But for some it's the 0.039% of the atmosphere that is CO2 that controls our climate

I'm sorry but I don't buy that

It might have a slight effect on maintaining the warmth at ground level when you are standing in the desert at night with miles of clear dry air up above you

But in the grand scheme of things CO2 is not the environmental disaster it is painted to be. For starters it's responsible for providing every Carbon molecule in your body and every other living thing on the Planet fixed from the air through Photosynthesis through that fabulous design that is Chlorophyll - in the process producing Oxygen to breath.

The other element maintaining the relatively stable equilibrium of our Climate is water - H20. In liquid form it stabilises the variations in the Sun's output (like a hot water bottle holds it's heat and keeps your toes warm through the night - with just the one initial big input of Joules from the Kettle) and water distributes the Sun's heat around the globe through ocean currents like the Gulf Stream. In gaseous form and it's condensate, Clouds, it also has a temperature stabilising effect

10 Earth gets warmer more evaporation more clouds - more clouds reflect Sun heat and light Earth gets cooler - Earth cooler less evaporation less clouds - less clouds more Sun's light and heat reaches ground level Earth gets warmer
20 Goto 10

If you want to find out what affects our Climate I should start with the great big fusion reactor 93 million miles away

Finally for the very first time today we can see every part of it at the same time

Finally we can admit to what we don't know about our local Star. Now we have new tools to find out - just the beginning of understanding.
