Starbase, these work units do not checkpoint very often in the scheme of things...on one of my slower systems it takes 2 hours to start showing progress, on most machines it should be around 90 minutes. Please allow these to continue, these are monster work units and will take lots of time. It'll be good to work in a new system to you :) good stress test :)

Is there going to be a special exception to make-up work units in deadline time for these? I know usually it's something like 20% of regular time, but with these monsters, it's going to be hard to make a deadline like that.

mdparkhill,
Your work unit should run fine to completion, but then again, that is what the BETA is for ... To check what your connection speed with our server is please go to your client_state.xml file and look for the line <bwdown>1.00000</bwdown> This is just an example as your number should be higher. -Uplinger |

joneill, we are not going to send out make-up work units at this time. We are investigating an error in some that cause the error 29 as mentioned above. From the work unit i was testing manually it appears to stop earlier than where I thought the error would occur, we will be sending these onto the researchers to find out what the issue may be.

You can edit that file to change the speed, but when you start transferring again the edit will change to what BOINC times the transfer at. So this would be a temporary solution to getting one of these work units.

Sorry for the impatience. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 6, 2009 11:10:31 PM] |
