My intuition tells me that they do not need a lot of crunchers for Phase 2.
----------------------------------------So ..... LET THE GAMES BEGIN !!!! The Badge game.... you all know what I mean. |

If you take a look at my other post, I explain the types. These requirements are just for the type A work units. These work units will not be the bulk of the calculations, but are massive.
----------------------------------------Edit: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,27642 <-- Added link to post about types :) (this next statement is only true for the work units i've seen so far in alpha which are not production work units) From what I have seen from work units generated, for every type A work unit, there are 2 type B's created. From that type C's are created and they are were 100 for every type B. But I believe this number for type C's is going to be much higher in production. Along the lines of 1000 for every type B...but we'll just have to wait and see :) -Uplinger [Edit 1 times, last edit by uplinger at Oct 6, 2009 8:25:33 PM] |

Phase 2 requires 384.00kbps download bandwidth. Your computer has been measured at 343.76kbps.
When was my bandwidth measured, and how did Boinc work out that a 10MB line was 343 kbps? |

But yes, the type A work units are monsters :) -Uplinger You aren't kidding! I've managed to get several and had some error out because I had my page file usage set to 50%. They are taking around 160MB of RAM + untold amounts of page file and are estimated to take 43 hours on my 3.16GHz Xeon. Edit: I just noticed that these use more swap file than RAM. I have my RAM allowed usage set to 100% and I still have 5GB free. Why don't they use RAM if it's available? [Edit 1 times, last edit by pirogue at Oct 6, 2009 8:54:09 PM] |

I get that error when requesting work too.
----------------------------------------06.10.2009 22:45:09 World Community Grid Message from server: Beta - Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2 requires 384.00 kbps download bandwidth. Your computer has been measured at 124.18 kbps. My connecting has 7997kbps download though. Any way i can fix this? Or refresh that value? Edit: And 903kbps Upload, so that cant be it either. Yeah. I'm not sure how they're calculating download. Mine should be able to handle 384kbps quite easily but claiming 297 or something. Just odd.
