Re: Final Batches of DDD-T Phase 1 have been loaded.

No, you can't transfer part of the cache for crunching on another device. The chance of compromising the integrity of the install is too great.

Thanks Sekerob.. I had to ask

Re: Final Batches of DDD-T Phase 1 have been loaded.

Many, many thanks to World Community Grid members for successfully completing Phase 1 of "Discovering Dengue Drugs-Together". The "together" part is most appropriate since we truly need your computational expertise and resources to get through this project!

We are validating the final workunits, analyzing all results, and developing drug insights from the Phase 1 data you produced. Do not be surprised if new DDDT-1 workunits show up in your cache from time to time since we will likely need to test an additional target or two to help refine our evolving drug predictions. Thus, although completed, DDDT-1 will remain officially active on the grid.

Now, on to launching Phase 2 - so very very soon!

All my best,
Stan coffee

Same here. 346 days and counting. My Caches are not dry yet. Some extra makup units or an additional drug target would be helpful.

I am at 360 ... I should know tonight when I get home if I can turn 1 or 2 WUs back to help others. Not much but it might be the ONE that takes someone over the top biggrin

Re: Final Batches of DDD-T Phase 1 have been loaded.

I should get my first sapphire tomorrow. Since the announcement, I've been filling my quads and i7s with 10 day cache. If my calculations are correct i'll have about 350+ WU extra worth about 75+ days of cpu time. Who needs one by tmr? biggrin Next target CEP. Gonna love these new badges!

If you're going to be generous and abort all these spare WU's so as to give others a stab at reaching their own goal, I'd recommend you abort them in relatively small batches just before midnight UTC, as otherwise, your machine(s) may end up being on the "unreliable" list. This would then starve your machines of the ability to download new work until they become more reliability in the eyes of the grid.

If I remember correctly, the 'worst case scenario', is that each of your machines will only be able to download and crunch 1 WU/day, gradually building up until the restriction is removed.

PS, Congratulations on your imminant Sapphire badge (something I can only dream of), and well done for thinking of others in their desperate hunt for DDD-T WU's biggrin

Re: Final Batches of DDD-T Phase 1 have been loaded.

gb009761 is correct about aborting WU's. I completed all my DDDT phase 1 work units even after reaching the one year mark for this reason. Please see a recent post by Uplinger regarding this subject under the title "No New Work Units" under IADS thread.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...amp;lastpage=yes#lastpost

Oh?! I didn't know that.

I guess I'll have to stop doing that. I've only started doing two days ago, when I noticed I not longer get any new IADS WU.

Does the system reset ocassionaly? Or from now on my computer will always be defined as unreliable?

Your computer will need to return a few work units first. I think you are limited to a 1 per day if your computer returns them in error or aborts, then increases from there. Allow it to behave properly for the next few days and let us know if things get better for you.

Do you run 100% CPU?
I think when you configure a cache of 10 days, after 8-9 days the results will be too late, because they need to be returned in 10 days and the cache is a forward buffer.
But at least you have a big buffer :-)

If WCG isn't doing something funny, it's 1 wu per day per core, and for each "success"-report the quota is doubled. So, even if someone starts the day with minimum quota, they can still keep their computer busy due to the very fast increasing of the quota.

Also, since it's per cpu, an i7 can actually still download 8 wu/day before quota starts to increasing, so all cores can be kept busy.

As long as there's atleast one task/core that aren't being aborted, the computer should not run-out of work. Well, except if you downloads a full daily quota the same day before you abort the work...
