Re: Final Batches of DDD-T Phase 1 have been loaded.

If Phase 2 is to narrow down the results from Phase 1, do you have an estimate on how big it will be (in computing years) compared with Phase 1?

Greg:

The following is our current "back of the envelope" crude estimate (we will have a more accurate estimate following beta testing) :

We would like to have ~25 laboratory-validated drug-like leads for each target. Conservatively, this might require identifying 50 Phase 2 hits per target, which could be generated by examining ~1000 Phase 1 hits. Each Phase 2 calculation requires 3 weeks of CPU time on the supercomputer at the Texas Advanced Computer Center. This is roughly equivalent to 8 weeks CPU time on World Community Grid, assuming single redundancy. Thus, each target might need ~150 years of CPU time (1000 hits * 8 weeks/hit) to complete Phase 2. With 17 targets, Phase 2 could (optimistically) be completed within 3000 CPU years (this is 1/4 of Phase 1 completion time) .

All my best,
Stan coffee

(reading this while waiting for the coffee to filter into my body & take full effect... coffee )

So best case would be roughly 1/4 the size of Phase 1 (or more realistically, probably somewhere between 1/3-1/2 as big). That's fantastic, it is amazing how quickly you can get good results once you know where too look.

Best of luck with the next (& any future) phase.

I don't reckon I'll hit green emerald now, but I'm happy with my red ruby one.

Well done everyone who contributed. Looking forward to phase 2!!

Same for me, PecosRiverM biggrin
I need even more than 100 days of valid results to get my Emerald one. I doubt if I will make it, even with the extra devices I installed

Well, there's nothing more certain to focus people's minds, than the knowledge that the last batches have been loaded for a particular project/phase.

I'm happy that I managed to contribute more than 90 CPU days to this project.

Good luck to all those seeking the last few WU's in order to reach their next badge level (by the way everyone's scrambling for WU's, you'll need it cool ).

Here's to the next phase biggrin

I probably won't make it to Emerald. I'm sitting of 264dys now with ~20dys in line. I'll be happy with Ruby...But I'm soooo close sad

Maybe the powers that be could let me download 80dys and increase the work time to 20dys wink

Hey Guys,
I aimed for Sapphire, but when the next update arrives, I'll have my Emerald. Since Sapphire isn't realistic anymore, I've disposed my extra scheduled work on DDDT, so others could have an extra chance in grabbing a few more days (and hopefully reach the desired batch).

Thanks to all those that have dropped DDDT so others might have a chance to make their goals. When the new badges were announced I was planning to go for sapphire as well. However with the very near end of phase1 I just hope to make emerald.

If I make it I will violate my normal rule of not aborting what I download and abort any extra DDDT work so someone else might make their goal as well.
