Okay, I ran Boinc 6.6.36.. (or some number close to that.. lol) Close enough. I attached to both GPU and WCG.. right now it shows 50 percent resource share on each one.. I thought it would be that I would run wcg all of the time, and gpu in the background.. did I miss something? Ignore that. It just means you are running two projects. If you run three it will be 33%, etc. ... means nothing. Look at GPU task you are running and it will show you the CPU being used (very little). Also, what should I set the EVGA app. settings at? Leave them alone except fan speed unless you want to try your hand at over clocking (not recommended for you yet ). Unclick "Automatic" for the fan and manually set it to a speed that keeps your card under 75C. Also click the question mark and set it to start with windows and also click the little radio button that says "Apply at windows startup". You have made great progress in one day!! You're a natural and will be a GPU Wizard ![]() |

uh oh.. already have a "computational error" on a human proteome wu on wcg.. with the new version.. Mike.. Not unusual on an upgrade. I usually drain the queue and report them before a BOINC upgrade. If you get comp errors on new wu;\'s let me know. Off to bed now but let me know how it goes. ![]() |

Yep, you are smarter than the average cruncher. ![]() ![]() |

could one crunch both wcg and a separate GPU client? Yes. Your cores will run WCG wu's and the card will run GPUGrid. What is the type of card? The GPU job will use ~ 0.1x of one core. would it take up too much memory? No it has its own memory. How much you got (512 meg or 1 gig)?not quite sure how i found this.. but here goes.. Chip Type: GeForce 9500 GS Approx Total Memory: 2544MB does this help? Mike.. ![]() Yep, sure does. You should be able to do a wu at GPUGrid in about 20 hours. So about 1/per day for about 5K credits. You will need to go here and get the latest vid driver for your OS. Click on download drivers at the top and follow the instructions. You will need to go to BOINC and get the latest BOINC version. I use 6.6.36 which works well for me. And you should go here and get a copy of precision to control your GPU fan speed. Left in automatic they do not run high enough to keep it cool. If you need help ... sing out. And another one goes over to the dark side! Seriously, great to see Mike expanding into that. It would be interesting to see what folks would do if WCG were to add GPU crunching. The dark side is the fun side! GPU crunching is ridiculous compared to CPU crunching. Parallelization is the way of the future! |

One with a fan will not work. If you need some 512 or 1 gig DDR2 let me know before I take it to recycling. I'm interest to see how it works out under oil. ![]() |

so far everything seems to work fine.. after just over an hour it's at 2.4 percent.. as slow as I am..
