GPU GRID yesterday was responsible for 140,000 credits. WCG: 60,952. OMG GPU FTW!!!!!!!!!! That is why we are #178. ... Well. we are about a week away from being passed by TitanesDC but then they are only averaging 900K credits a day....and almost 61k credits from WCG is not peanuts. I wish there were some way to compare those across all projects. I do too. At least within a project every team is on the same playing field. MOT is holding its own with major teams with hundreds of active members and some which have some serious GPU players. I've had a couple of nice comments in the boards from some peeps that notice our stats in my sig. Today I feel like one of those old prop engine bomber mechanics. I fix one engine on the right and one on the left quits. I am converting everything but one machine to Win 7 64-bit and 8 gig of memory. I am getting noticably shorter run times at WCG by being able to use more memory. Also with the new Altec 900 cases the temps for GPU and CPU are a good 10C cooler ... that helps too. I think I have all the problems solved but:1) How to get power distributed over 3, 20amp circuits. (It may require an electrician) 2) How I am going to pay for the electricity. BTW: Has anyone converting to Win 7 got "Upgrade" to work? I am 0 for 6 with one to go. ![]() 1) I read an implicit "without moving my machines into different rooms of the house". The poor man's simple answer is to use those heavy duty orange extension cords to a power strip that has some of the machines on it and run it to a plug in a lesser used room. The truly appealing part is that you get to duct tape (if you do it with duct tape, it's done the good way!) the cords to the floor/carpet so you don't trip on them after a few beers. The good way is to have an electrician split the current room into multiple circuits at the box. That will entail running more wiring and probably tearing up some wallboard but would leave you set for the long term. 2) Invest in solar cells and/or a wind turbine (not the wind farm type but the push mower blade on its side type) and take advantage of some of the tax credits out there while you can. I've seen wind turbines for $6-7K and they don't stick up into the air 300 feet. Of course, there's always mineral oil! ![]() |

Which one made the most real points or credits or which of them progressed towards a cure more?? In the 5 years I've been doing this no one has cured anything or discovered much except very large prime numbers. The theroretical math guys seem to be the biggest winers so far. ![]() Well, I'm not sure there's been anything majorly dramatic like a full blown cure for something but I've see smattering of progress. Problem is, you have to find bits and pieces here and there scattered over a lot of different web sites. What would REALLY be nice is if WCG could create and maintain a page on the website here where they could summarize the different projects' progress/accomplishments. With research, you don't typically have the major findings very often. Those tend to be "once in a lifetime" sorts of things. You do tend to learn a few things that direct your research in a more fine-tuned direction or a new direction altogether. We've certainly speeded things up and we've probably allowed a few things to happen that may well not have otherwise. Still, it would be nice to be able to go to one place and read about all the little differences we've made with the projects here so far. |

I'm set to pick up my aquarium next week and I have a pc all formatted and ready to go. P4 cr@ppy speed, can be lost if the mineral oil experiment fails. Planning to submerge in 5 gallons at first, then evaluate from there. |
