All in all the only way to get more beta work units is to disable all other workunits.. that way you will only get beta's... :'(

....or do what I do and set just Clean Air as your project.....you get lotsof Beta and if you start them running, using suspend and resume then they do not get aborted, they only abort if you have not started them..... Using suspend / resume to avoid server aborts serves your needs at the expense of WCG. What is Clean Air ... do you mean Clean Energy? ....and the title of this thread is how to get more beta units.....nothing about placing any restrictions on it! I am just pointing out to people who may think that the suspend / resume tactic is a good direction to obtaining a beta badge that they may want to consider the overall impact of creating more work for WCG for no purpose other than to earn a badge. Appreciate it or not, it is my opinion and just as you are free to post yours, I am free to post mine. |

If WCG did not want you to earn badges then they would not have provided them.

Scribe - I am all for earning badges but do you think causing unnecessary work for WCG is a good thing to do?

Not going funk in on what I think of forcing redundant work through, but to add that if any task of a project, speak any task of e.g. WCG, has been manually suspended, work fetch ceases for WCG. If all cores on a client are running high priority, work fetch ceases altogther until any one core returns to normal operation, processing a WCG task.
----------------------------------------Someone suggested to have a Beta only option, without any active project. Of course, if I have my say in that, ain't going to happen. Very unfair to those who actually do contribute to the live projects. Now I'll leave you to processing redundant work units... it's your computer edit: underscore

Finished tasks will be reported if: 2; If been "ready to report" for atleast 24 hours. 3; If less than 24 hours until deadline. 4; If time until deadline is less than "Computer is connected to the Internet about every N days". Thanks, I did not know that. |

Like for most things, we have an FAQ on that RtR topic in our very secret, hard to find Start Here forum: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=16783
