The main difference with this beta appears to be that when they blow up with the error while copying wcgrestart.rst, they are marked as "Inconclusive" instead of "Error".

My C2D laptop took 17 hours to process one beta and my quad finished one around 7 hours. Didn't get to see the one on the quad as it picked up and finished overnight. Still have two more in progress on two different machines, the slower P4s. Can't check the validation status of the two that finished as the stats are updating.
After these should be about half way to silver status ![]() |

This project has certainly introduced a higher error rate then we typically experience. We will take a look at the discussion above. There is certainly some merit in the argument that errors that occur during beta testing should be treated differently then errors that occur in production. We will have to consider this while considering the following issues: * The mechanism should reward members appropriately for their contribution * The mechanism needs to be part of the BOINC framework so that it works automatically * The mechanism should discourage cheating and overclocked computers that return erroneous results. My suggestion is a simple one, each beta unit that validates gets valued in the normal way. Each unit from the batch that errors, or is invalid, or aborted by the project gets the average credit of the valid units in the batch. User Aborted units get nil. There is a codicile to the above in that if a computer gives errored/invalid results on known good projects it only gets points if the beta unit is valid. This prevents duff computers being unfairly rewarded whilst ensuring that the rest get a reasonable compensation for their efforts without requiring excessive effort to work out what credit to give. It would be a simple matter of working out the average of all the valid units and then running a script to give those credits to all the affected units. |

BETA_E000442_018B_000c0000i seems to be a problem, too. Already two workunits have error, one inconclusive, and the second replacement workunit running. But all three result logs look normal:

Two of my most reliable machines returned Beta work with an Error result. Both had this type of message in the Error link.

Usually my q6600@3Ghz gets that amount of points for 3.5 hours of work (maybe that same amount my wingman has now had?). Boinc client is 6.5.0 64bit, vista x64.

My wingman has finished but looks like my WU (on one of my slower but reliable machines) is looking at 45+ hours to completion
