I still have no problem getting Rice WU (I have 4 computers fully queried) and the statistics still show it going relatively stong at 34 years yesterday, so I would dare to say that we're still ok as far as time.
And I would tend to look at the nice handy graph above as compared to trying to judge from how hard it is to get WUs: it tends to be more accurate. |

Since HCCC came out the estimated date slipped to Nov of '09.
Where will the slide end up? |

Since HCCC came out the estimated date slipped to Nov of '09. Where will the slide end up? I guess, this is just because of the chase for badges.... After the most crunchers will have their gold medal, the estimate date will move to an earlier date again. IMHO, there is nothing to worry about... |

I wonder if the Techs have cut back on 'rice' a little? We have it selected and seem to be getting fewer WUs these days.....maybe my imagination.

Rice is all I'm doing right now. I'm not running into a shortage by any means.

All machines are getting lots of WU. Glad to see the end date pushed off a bit, especially with the new projects here and coming. For every new project, I think we will see the end date for NRW pushed off even later.

Glad to see the end date pushed off a bit... Your statement seems odd to me.I assume the faster they can get the crunched data the better. If the work unit are available, then I will crunch them as fast as I can. |

If the work unit are available, then I will crunch them as fast as I can. It's OK this way, and that's exactly why the distribution is still in lower mode (as far as I know)! To my knowledge Rice is still short of storage for receiving results although interim actions have been taken to help them. Therefore devices allowing several projects are not receiving Rice WUs (or at least less than for the other selected projects) to save Rice WUs for devices which have selected Rice exclusively. Cheers. Jean. |

Thanks, Jean. That explains my observation of fewer Rice WUs. Also,as the majority of our boxes run several projects, we are probably picking up the slack on older projects for the Badge chasers. I'm sure things will even out when 'gold' is achieved by all.

It's a shame that I wasted it on a complaint about a previous post, but I just couldn't let this go by without saying something!! What is wrong with being a "badge chaser"??? And, not all of us can afford multiple or the new computers of today to process 90 days of computer time in 2 or 3 calender days (which is great). I have been running WCG at the maximum for my computer for over two years now for about 16 hours a day. I am doing my part JUST as your are. We are all in this together for the same goal. Not for badges, although the award is a very nice touch. I remember back when there were no badges at all as you probably do. Well anyway, enough of that!! I do not mean to offend anyone but I had to say something. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 27, 2009 3:23:03 AM] |
