If even some portion of this .... gets installed on a Dell, it would certainly make it easy for me to choose another vendor. Just look at the hours it would take just to decide whether to use this software. Volunteer Tourism? Self Sustainable Apartments? Never mind the hours to get rid of it. I am sure some of this is valuable work, but pre-installed on every Dell computer??? Even Dell can't be serious about selecting projects based on popularity. |

They are looking for business plans, not stuff to preinstall.
I wasn't too impressed with their voting system. It's not like anything I've ever seen, and I can't see any way that it is remotely unbiased. Oh well - they aren't really bothered about the public vote, the competition judges have an overwhelming majority vote.... I expect the judges foresee a high drop-out rate when it comes to submitting a venture plan and video before the next round. Note that even if the World Community Grid entry were to win, Dell aren't obliged to actually help in any way. |
