Evening all
Sunny day with a good breeze made it an excellent laundry day so two bouts of the washing machine, dried, ironed and put away. Then cut the grass as, not only is the weather over the next few days a tad uncertain, I shall be AWOL with a trip to Bognor Regis ( who complained in my paper this morning that too many people omit the Regis part) for our annual cousins lunch and then Lords for the Test match for the rest of the week. Yes Den, it's a bit of a conundrum that as cricket generally is less popular than when I first started watching Sussex in between playing for Three Bridges, the waiting list for MCC membership has got longer all the time I was elected member in 1967 after a mere three years wait and the membership limit has been increased by 3,000 since then. Many clearly do it for some sort of love of cricket or just as a status symbol. The ground couldn't cope with all the membership trying to turn up for a Test match. When about a third turn up for a day at an Australian Test, the member's stands are totally packed. The Aussie secretary has been a great success. He's a hands on sort of guy and actually gets out and mingles with the crowd to really see, first hand, how things are going. Plus, for we who get outside to queue for the Test matches, immediately laid on free tea or coffee to keep us going. I just hope the threatened showers are light and infrequent. |

Morning, dry and very overcast. Probably gearing up for a dismal Bank Holiday
