Evening all
I don't thing it matters what line of study you decide to take at University. The real skill is standing on your own feet and accepting the challenge of your peers in whatever you've decided to major in. In fact, from the observation of my two daughters and their friends, the real education came from having to stand on their own feet. Escaping the nest and having to learn what living on a fixed income and being not only self sufficient but finding what it means to share accommodation. In other words, what life's all about. |

Evening all.....
I never went to college, and have no degrees, certificates or whatever; however I have lost count of the times I have solved problems for and shewn those who consider them selves 'more educated' than myself the way forward; I am often asked "how do you know these things", my answer is always the same.......'LIFE'S EXPERIENCE'; There is no substitute to a life of 'hands on' we learn to walk, talk, communicate and design through play in our early years before we even enter the education system, you ask any child "why did you pull your toy apart"? they will reply, " 'cause I wanted to see how it worked" this is a natural human reaction to the world around us, great inventors and scientist have this curiosity and have created the world we have today. Yes we need our universities and our degrees to show our knowledge in a particular vocation, Doctor, Engineer, Builder etc' but there is a wider knowledge out there that we all also need It's called LIFE, there is no certificate or degree for this and it is free to all to study, the problem is many are now blind to it!. To all students around the world I congratulate you on your achievements, now get out in the real world for a while and study the world around you, you will be much richer and wiser for your efforts; Good luck to you all and may your god bless you Old Sage |

----------------------------------------Harold Rote funny you should say that. A Mickey Mouse qualification didn't seem to have done Walt Disney any harm ! ---------------------------------------- And as to Ivan and his chips orf the owld block......... nurture has a lot to do with how things turn out getting some bits of paper telling how wunerful you are dosnt mean a jot if you havnt got some drive,,,, The kids should be pointed in to a correct course prior to unie like one that might produce a job at the end of the day the world of university education isn't the be all know all we still need some people that can dig holes, tile roofs or plough fields you don't learn that in university ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by densnaps at Aug 28, 2009 8:48:52 PM] |

EDUCATIONThought you all might enjoy this little poem................. First Day Every one has a 'First Day' When you feel sad and all alone, It can be scary When you're out on your own. Take my hankie, dry your tears. You'll find lots of things to do and you'll probably make new friends. I promise we'll be together when the school day ends. Here comes the teacher, blow your nose and be brave. Come on now wipe your eyes, this is no way to behave. "Well, good morning teacher. We really must beg your pardon. No, MUMMY doesn't always act this way. But it's my first day of ....KINDERGARTEN!" Old 'scoundral' Sage ![]() |
