Fred's BOINCTasks was just updated to v1.50 with some interesting new [optional] columns in Tasks and History... no more Task Manager visiting or cumbersome one by one task properties clicking to find out what a running task uses in key resources:
----------------------------------------1.50 June 2013 New: Tasks tab: Account, Virtual memory and Memory column. New: History settings: Add / remove columns. New: History tab: (peak) Virtual memory and (peak) Memory column. Changed: Impossible to hide both CPU and GPU tasks. Changed: Give a warning if the Computer column is missing and the context menu is selected. Fixed: When update is in progress, disable buttons. The account column may be useful to those doing cameo's on account of others [using the weak account key e.g.] (Not sure though what members info is shown if crunching and having attached to someone else's account using this feature). The VM/Memory columns are most interesting seeing all your hosts [the farmers], and having one glance view of the various resources different tasks of same project use in varying stages. Seeing 14 DSFL now with memory uses ranging from 32MB to 81MB. The Peak shown in history varies little, noting that only forward on do these fields get populated. edit: Don't forget to hit the 'Apply' button after selecting the columns of choice, else you wont see the changed view order. edit2: The last one "Disable Buttons when update is running", may come to BOINC Manager too. When a project has send a back-off deferral, fixed 121 seconds at WCG, then that may become the time the Update button is grayed out for WCG... enforces the hammer stop. Techs will like that. For those that have multiple clients on their LAN, DHCP operating and IPs flopping around and keep updating their manager, the last few BOINCTasks versions have had a MAC code column in the Computer list view. today opened the router client viewer to get a list of MAC codes, copy-pasted them into BOINCTasks against the attached hosts, removed the IP addressed, let BT do a few connecting refreshes and voilá, all crunchers are 'managed' again in one app... no more IP code hunting or pre-assigning IP addresses to MAC codes.

If you are using BoincTasks cloud: Please deactivate BoincTasks cloud as it is interfering with out new server. Seti.nl moved to a new server that is unable to handle BoincTasks cloud, so please switch it off as soon as possible. The requests of several BoincTasks cloud users even overloaded the server, so we had to blackhole the requests. Still these requests causes elevated resource usage on the server. So PLEASE SHUT it DOWN: BoincTasks Extra->BoincTasks Settings -> Cloud and remove the check at "Cloud enable". We will be back on a new server as soon as possible. http://boinc.berkeley.edu/dev/forum_thread.php?id=4347&postid=77508 |
