I have one of these as well. Mine seems to restart about every 20 minutes with the same error everyone else is getting. I rebooted and still have the problem. Windows XP, BOINC 5.10.45

I have one of these as well. Mine seems to restart about every 20 minutes with the same error everyone else is getting. I rebooted and still have the problem. Windows XP, BOINC 5.10.45 Cut your losses and abort it now. It's just wasting electricity. I had several different work units do that and nothing I tried (including updating to the latest client) worked. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by David_L6 at Jan 5, 2009 4:29:17 PM] |

The approx. time was 20 hrs , but it was done after 5 hrs 31 min . The name of this WU is: E000089_260A_000h0200g_0 . I use Windows Vista , Intel Core Duo 2 x 1.86 Ghz , 2 GB ram and the BOINC client 6.2.28 . ![]() |

Hi everyone I have run CEP (amongst other projects) on two laptops:
(i) Dell Lattitude D600 with an 1 Intel Centrino 1.4Ghz processor and 512 MB RAM (ii) Eee PC 1000H with 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Atom(TM) CPU N270 @ 1.60GHz and 1 Ghz RAM (see bottom of post for full list of BOINC msgs) CEP works fine on the lattitude - no issues at all. On the Eee PC however, b/c there are two CPUs, it seems to run fine on the 2nd one, but with the first one, it doesn't seem to work properly. I have experienced the problem twice - first time reset project project after a week. This had the effect of downloading 2 new CEP jobs. They both were expected to complete after approx 48 hrs. As of now, the progess stats are: 1st job - task E000061_925A_000d5b00n_1 using cep1 version 619 - dysfunctional as I can see both the elapsed time and time remaining increasing! Hi tornjak,
You could try experimenting by setting your local preferences to only run 1 job on that machine. Lawrence |

Hi Lawrence,
The only way I can see to do that is to set to use 50% of CPUs in which case it alternates between the two, or to manually suspend one job and wait for it to finish beofre resuming the other. Do you know of any other way? Cheers, tornjak Hi tornjak, You could try experimenting by setting your local preferences to only run 1 job on that machine. Lawrence |

dysfunctional as I can see both the elapsed time and time remaining increasing! ... working ok as I can see the elapsed time increase and the time remaining correspondingly decrease ... Could there be an issue with one of the CPUs?? With the great variety of sizes for the CEP WUs currently, you cannot simply use these criteria for estimating if a CEP WU is running fine or not. It is quite possible that both WUs are running fine. Try to use this Start Here FAQ How long will this new type-A Clean Energy Project (CEP) work unit (WU) last? to estimate the total necessary time of each WU and then keep an eye on them from time to time to check if things are still going well. If you have no real problem what you see simply means that the size of the first WU has been underestimated and that the estimate for the second one was correct, or excessive if time remaining decreases faster than the elapsed time increases. Cheers. Jean. |

B/c of 2 cpus in my chip, my Eee PC runs 2 CEP jobs with 1 of them finishing on time w/o incident, while the other takes ages and exhibits the same msg as below on occasion. Now that it's gone past it's due date, it says:
12/01/2009 9:05:59 AM|World Community Grid|Task E000061_925A_000d5b00n_1 is 0.67 days overdue. 12/01/2009 9:05:59 AM|World Community Grid|You may not get credit for it. Consider aborting it. Shold I abort the task - will this affect any other WCG and non-WCG tasks that I have running? Cheers, tornjak I upgraded from BOINC 5.10.45 to BOINC 6.2.18 yesterday, and now I'm having a similar problem: 1/1/2009 2:59:43 AM|World Community Grid|Task E000061_280A_000d4w008_3 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 1/1/2009 2:59:43 AM|World Community Grid|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 1/1/2009 2:59:43 AM|World Community Grid|Restarting task E000061_280A_000d4w008_3 using cep1 version 619 Repeated several times, about every half hour. Seems to be going back to 0 CPU time used each time so far, though. So far, 4 people have gotten this workunit, and two quickly returned errors, so it's likely to be a problem with this specific workunit. |
