I reset the WCG project, as the error message suggests, and the workunit is still starting over about every half hour without saving any results for the previous CPU time:
1/1/2009 8:18:22 AM|World Community Grid|Task E000061_280A_000d4w008_3 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file 1/1/2009 8:18:22 AM|World Community Grid|If this happens repeatedly you may need to reset the project. 1/1/2009 8:18:22 AM|World Community Grid|Restarting task E000061_280A_000d4w008_3 using cep1 version 619 I'm planning to abort this workunit. Any particular files you want before or after I do this? Also, this workunit may be causing problems with the debt calculations. Since I installed BOINC 6.2.28, I've gotten two workunits from WCG, to which I've devoted about a third of my CPU time lately, none from Rosetta@home, to which I've devoted about a third also, about 10 from boincsimap, to which I devote about 8 percent, and none from the other projects to which I offer some of my CPU time, although not all of the others have any workunits to offer. My debt viewer program disappeared during the BOINC upgrade, so it's hard to check for more information on the debt values. |

I picked two ones similars and ran for more than two days and the results of my crunch was waste with the same problem that you are facing. Just abort and go to other. Unfortunatelly we are the luckies ones that pick this bad WU's. Good real lyucky in the next. ![]()

I switched off out the Clean Energy Project. I'll come back when it's performing better. I'm a bit dissapointed, because I really like this project!

Frijters I would like to suggest to you continue running CEP WU's despite of the problems... Why ? Can you imagine a scenario were all people that have any issues with CEP WU's just abandon the project until the things be in smooth way ? I think that will delay much more to CEP scientists team fix all problems if we just give up for couple weeks or months until all, be right. In this way, despeite of many problems faced I keep CEP WU's running as priority once we can really colaborate to solve this errors if we ran many WU's and send to scientits data enough to evaluate what happens... I think that appear be a Kamikaze idea but I am just sharing my point of view to ask you to join again and keep the hope high being part of the ones that really colaborated a little bit to fix CEP. Up to you ! ![]()

Task E000062_282A_000d5k002_4 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file
And another one. Resets after about 20 minutes. |

Hi all--
----------------------------------------I got one that ran for 8 hours (to 80%) and then started resetting itself every 15 minutes or so. It didn't restart from scratch -- I guess it would just reset to the last checkpoint and start from there. All the other replicates were aborted, error, no reply, or inconclusive. I decided to let it run, to see why everyone else had a problem, and now I know. I aborted it. The WU is: 1/2/2009 8:26:56 PM|World Community Grid|Task E000054_987A_000d0q00f_6 exited with zero status but no 'finished' file When I aborted mine, the server sent out another replicate to someone else (the 8th replicate). Was wondering if the "powers that be" would recommend that we abort a task that has already demonstrated its "failure mode" in other replicates (under "Results Status"), rather than wasting time on it. It would be nice if BOINC would allow us to put in a reason for aborting a WU. If the reason would show up under "Results Status" other crunchers could access this advice. It is a great idea to enter a reason for aborting. I am not sure if the ability to enter a reason is within WCG - but at least a reason could be entered (optional) and the reason is returned along with the message log for the task in question.
Can this be done within WCG or does this have to be proposed to BOINC development team? |

Hi bieberj,
It would have to be done by BOINC. But I wonder if the researchers would pay much attention to the Abort Reasons report. There are so many other ways to become aware of problems and I can easily imagine research scientists spending all their allocated time for debugging without even bothering to read the report. Not a bad idea, but it might be a long time before the BOINC developers want to work on it. Still, why not drop a suggestion to the BOINC developers? Lawrence |
