Re: Completion Times

Until the root cause of these duration problems is fixed the following new "Start Here" item How long will this new type-A Clean Energy Project (CEP) work unit (WU) last? might help you to more accurately size these WUs once they have started.

Cheers. Jean.

Re: Completion Times

Is deadline 20 days?

Hi guys. Im getting only 7 days to deadline. I got 6 of these WU and each one is taking about 60 hrs. Is that ok?. Why the short deadline?. Other shorter-to-crunch projects have larger deadlines.

I think, I had the fastest or smallest (?) WU ever! - Ronaldo

Good post by lawrencehardin: Current CEP bugs / problems

I agree they should look at increasing the deadline times for CEP (and maybe decreasing them for HPF2)

Re: Completion Times

Hello every body,

I would like to say one thing to all members that think the CEP WU's are too long, never crunch for climate prediction that sent very long WU's.
I have actually one that will take more than 900 hour to complete. shock

But, finally, what is important ?
The time a WU take to complete ?
The number of WU we crunch per day ?
Or the time we give for research and the result we give to scientist ? applause

What are Boinc, WCG and grid computing ? confused
Some thing that have been developped to split very big process into many small one's. thinking
And we crunch all together the small one's that are very small or a little bit bigger for some WU and what is important for research is that all together give the results of all the little process and scientist can see quickly what would have take thousands of year normally. angel

So, WU that take 1 or 2 hours, or WU's that take 20, 40 or more that 50 hours, it does matter for me. What i see is the number of hours i give.

Good crunch to every body. talk to the hand

Re: Completion Times

I agree, boulmontjj. If I get a CEP unit that goes quickly, that's one more we can add to the completed pile. And if I get a CEP unit that takes a long time, well, I'll gladly chew my way through it so others do not need to.

We all have personal preferences and tolerances, but that can work in our favor. People who back off CEP for whatever reason can work harder on other projects. Others who have patience or tolerance for a newly launched project can help that learn and grow. In the end, we all win, which is the whole point of this. So whatever country, team, and project, crunch like you mean it. Just make sure you're enjoying it!

And a good crunch to all. smile

Running an Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 @ 2.66 GHZ, 3GB RAM @ 800 MHZ, Windows Vista Business 32-bit

Completion times are currently varying from approximately 7 to 21 hours.

Yes mine come in at 7.5hrs compared to 2.5-3hrs for a Cancer unit.
