The latest information we have about batch 17 is useless for predicting runtime, because the longest work units haven't been returned yet.
The joys of non-determinism. I'm afraid that even when the averages are under control, CEP is going to have a lot more variation in work unit size than the other projects. Batches 20 and 21 do seem a lot more reasonable. One I'm working on now from batch 21 is on track for about 10 hours. |

wu# E000017_210A_0024w012_0 I suspended this at 35% with 37:36:22 to work on somethihg else. How long do these take. p4 1.8 512 ram I've got a batch 17 WU running on a 2 GHz PentM. It's nearly done with just over 56 hours of CPU time. You might be able to use that as a rough guide. - D |

We are working on narrowing the range of how long the workunits last. Starting at batch 10 we have reduced the overall average length. We are hoping that these changes reduce it down to around 9 hours from the 15 hours the first batches. WHAT have you done since batch 10 you say? Thank goodness for that. A 2.4GHz AMD machine is running batch 14. The graphics shows an ascending slope. CPU time is incrementing as it should. 64h 38m crunched so far, progress 4.937%, 77h 31m remaining and it is still increasing. Hi lazypug, There is at least one good thing (but I am still looking for others ) about the duration of type-A CEP WUs, it is that their progress is very linear. So once a particular WU has run long enough you can predict its total runtime with less than 5 % of error.According to the info you have provided yours will need about 107 hours of total runtime, or if you prefer it will still have to run for 70 hours (almost three days). Considering the short deadlines you should not wait too long before re-activating it! Cheers. Jean. ---------------------------------------- [Edit 2 times, last edit by JmBoullier at Dec 13, 2008 7:28:30 AM] |

The batch 16,17 and 18 are enormous. They have a run time around 55 to 75 hours on my computers, processors from 1 ghz to 1,4 ghz. The batch 20 was normal and finish in 10 hours.
----------------------------------------So we have noticed that it is a huge difference in the batches in this project. You can get your bronze bagde if you just fullfill a couple of WU's ![]() |

So we have noticed that it is a huge difference in the batches in this project. There are huge differences even inside the same batch. For batch '18 and for the same machine I have returned a WU with 12.52 hours yesterday morning, and I should return one tomorrow evening (!!) with about 87 hours! The only good thing regarding expected duration is that you can predict it rather precisely once a WU has already run for a few hours because their progress is very linear. Cheers. Jean. |

My quad(vista) left the CEP project until resolution, if at all possible. Too much Kernel/PF/PFΔ resulting in a 25% overall performance hit. Opposed the XP C2D in CEP only is largely unaffected, in the credit department, but still showing anomaly. Switching that device from CEP to HCC which it normally does exclusively showed some improvement. Maybe someone with XP quad can confirm the credit per second development for a before/during/after XP quad device (Q6600).
----------------------------------------![]() PS, the Dec.13 is a spill over result from the quad that validated after 00:00 UTC and before the actual statistics run start. Noted yesterday that device level daily statistics only update once a day, same as team.

I opted out of the project also. I have only 4 left but they will exceed 60 hours on a Q6600 quad Vista 64 bit. They are all running on the same machine and PF's are thrashing the performance.

As Jean posted: ...you can predict it rather precisely once a WU has already run for a few hours because their progress is very linear. Indeed, you have to wait a few hours. In the mean time the estimated runtime length of above mentioned WU is below 84 hours. Not so linear in the beginning. So not for sale anymore. ![]() Cheers [Edit 1 times, last edit by Crystal Pellet at Dec 13, 2008 6:48:57 PM] |
