Hi All,
----------------------------------------I run a Windows Domain based network. After installing 6.2.25 I've noticed that the computer(device) names have changed from <computername.domainname> to <computername>. I guess that this is a "feature" rather than a bug. Pete edit: spelling ![]() "Patience is a virtue", I can't wait to learn it! [Edit 1 times, last edit by petehardy at Nov 5, 2008 7:07:51 PM] |

hi all,
Would like to take part in this but need instructions. I'm on Ubuntu 8.10 running boinc 6.2.12 and would like to try out 6.2.25 but without disturbing the current install. It should install in say my home directory /home/shirish and should be reading the cc_config file from the home directory itself. I'm sure this is very much possible and can be done, but need direction/support as to how to do the same (Looking for a howto of the same) |

Shirish,
----------------------------------------Thanks for offering to test. As outlayed, the Linux BOINC 6.2.12 was a release quickly overtaken. The recommended, at least by Berkeley for Linux, sits on 6.2.15, where 6.2.14 was quickly retracted. There is no later 6.2.x available for download, not even at the full historic versions download location. cheers
WCG

shirish, the 6.2.25 version we are beta-testing here is a Windows version. Therefore, unless you have installed your Ubuntu in dual boot over an already existing Windows system you will not be able to test it.
----------------------------------------Sorry about that. Jean. |

The messages gives the following stuff 07-Nov-08 0:41:40 AM||Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <client_download_url> 07-Nov-08 0:41:40 AM||Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <network_test_url> 07-Nov-08 0:41:40 AM||Unrecognized tag in cc_config.xml: <start_delay> [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 6, 2008 7:15:39 PM] |

Please delete your cc_config.xml file and use the one supplied by WCG.

Please delete your cc_config.xml file and use the one supplied by WCG. I had modified the cc_config.xml . Now I have deleted the same, but from where should I take the cc_config.xml file now. Do you mean to say I reinstall the whole application again or is there some place from where I can take the cc_config.xml ? |

Your cc_config.xml should look like this:
----------------------------------------<cc_config>The checkpoint_debug line is not part of the file installed by the beta version but I have left it for people not familiar with these xml tags. Its purpose is to have a line added in your message log every time a checkpoint is taken. If you are not interested by this logging feature and if you want to keep the structure you can simply replace the 1 by 0 in that line. Cheers. Jean. |

Hello all,
----------------------------------------Updated Boinc from Berkley's 5.10.45 to WCG's 6.2.25 on my laptop with Vista-home SP1. The installer suggested to install Boinc in C:\Boinc the same spot I had installed the 5.10.45.. I was expecting the installer would suggest: C:\Program Files\BOINC which I choose manually. Installed smoothly, transfer from previous version went fine. Looking good! Have a nice day, Path7. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 7, 2008 5:15:14 PM] |
