Dave, Keith: I will be happy to help. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I will be near my computer between now and Christmas (probably even then). If you can give me the proper instruction, I should be able to pick it up for you in your absence. Send me the instructions before you go so I can make a practice run on them if you want. Dave, if you want to do it, that is fine with me...I will serve as a backup. Whatever you guys want. Regards RT -- thanks. It is probably better to have you scheduled to do it with me backup the way my health has been lately. Besides, it spreads the wealth around a bit. I did it a year ago for Keith, Jonathan just recently did it. It is pretty simple. You just go to the our team page here on WCG, under the heading "Team Member Details and Statistics" you click on Sorted By "Points Generated". When you get to the list, expand it out to 250 records per page and finally, copy/paste all of the data lines from each page into a flat file (Notepad page) and save it. If you really work at it, you can make the effort take a whole five minutes. Actually, it's even easier than that. I use this URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTe...amp;numRecordsPerPage=350 That gets the entire team on one page so all you have to do then is select the part that list the details for each member (from Marysduby down to Jayan Thettath), copy and paste that into Notepad. Save it as a text file. If you go ahead and send to me then, keep a copy until I'm back and confirm with you that I have all the files. With the spam like it is these days, it doesn't take long for my inbox to fill when I'm gone. Hum.. I just tried that URL and it gave me all members. Not just the active ones. Is there another parm that will get just the active? Otherwise how do you eliminate the inactive from the list that you post? Looking at it some more, you have points this period.. so do you import this into an excel do the math and then sort out ...etc. etc. ? RT -- Keith has written some code to digest the data into the stats he posts for us, so, yeah, he needs the data from all members as you noted. OK. Understand. You guys don't forget to tell me when to start. ![]() |

Drives me nuts! C'mon, Jonathan -- we know you don't have to drive that far You're right about the 10 seconds. I am uploading my nearly 20 second clip for it that says nothing much. Here is my clip. Pretty lame. Not at all. I liked it. You can't do much high res video in <10 meg. Is there a prohibition on mentioning the team name? ![]() I didn't see any rules other than size. I figured with that resolution, it wasn't worth getting my camcorder out and I used my webcam. Wonder if they are going to edit out profanity like in the forums -- lol Like, "Hey you bunch of lazy, <bleep>. Get off your <bleep> and join WCG you worthess bunch of <bleep>." ![]() http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=22229 It says in the form of a 30 second clip. ![]() Video Requirements 1. Duration: About 10 seconds 2. Video dimension: 640 x 480 3. File size: < 10MB 4. File formats: .MOV, .MPEG, .MPG, .WMV, .ASF, .AVI (including .DivX), and MPEG4 (.MP4) (30+10)/2 = 40/2 = 20 DM wins. ![]() Make a video that incorporates all of MOT. If that's legal. ![]() Maybe I should submit this. |

Hey folks. The (only) dual core machine has died, again, I think its a faulty power supply thats killing the motherboards. I'll be replacing them both in about two weeks when I have time after my university assignments and just before the exams. Until then, I have a mere P4 crunching.. ![]() I'm also getting a new supermachine in a little over a month.. Haven't finalized the specs but I'll likely hop on the graphics crunching bandwagon also with a 9800. ![]() In case I don't speak again soon, happy Halloween everyone! Marc. Ouch! Bad power supplies always have too much collateral damage. Your new octo will make up your lost ground in no time though. Good luck with the exams! |

Unfortunately, I've yet to sort out the probably simple process of downloading that to the PC and whatever from there. I'm not sure even 30 seconds is enough time to do it justice. Part of me sorta suspects they want to take real short clips from different folks to make some sort of "man on the street" testimonials. I have to wonder just how much this sort of thing actually accomplishes. Still, video has it's place and uses. |

Dave's putting us all to shame. ![]() Uh.....oh....ok. Make that 17 projects. Oooo, and another 63 banners to do. Well, Proteins has been pretty useless for a while now though they now claim they will have work around year end. Guess I should ask that, going forward, my preference is that if anyone sees a project that interests them that the would like to see MOT expand into, let me know ahead of time. I'm trying to have a "method to the madness" of which projects we're a part of and not get into too many projects that are in the same area. Also, I've learned that I'd like to check the history of the project out so we tend towards projects that have a reasonably reliable work stream, decent administration and a lack of unplanned, unannounced extended outages. Also, I think we would benefit from building up our participation at these other projects first before we get too spread out. |
