The dogs got me up early and wanted out. I thought it was just the usual "full bladder" request. Nope! A coyote had tree'd my cat. The Great Dane went after the coyote ... big fight ensued. The little dog jumped into it. The coyote escaped, no damage to my dogs ... the cat is still in the oak tree. All this before my morning caffine. ![]() Did the morning java manage to put you back to sleep after all the excitement? Naw, been trying to get the darn cat out of the tree. She's not coming down and I sure ain't climbing up. She'll come down when she get hungrier. edited for inappropriate language...cih Sounds like your little dog was ready to tear up some coyote ***... :) Wait, you live where you can have a coyote in your yard? Mike.. I live in the Sierra Foothills. We have lot's of wildlife ... including the rare but ocassional Mountain Lion. Dr Mike -- Dataman is out in the boonies where that wouldn't be too strange, however, we are seeing them in suburban Chicago. This article indicates that there was a population of about 2000 here around two years ago! Edit: Now, mountain lions -- that is another matter -- lol. According to this, they stay in the city! Dataman -- I've been having a bit of a problem with Cedric of late. Seems his battery has developed a short memory (sounds like me as I age). Recently, his cleaning cycles have dropped down to about 15 minutes before he needs to go home for a recharge. I found this which states: "If your Roomba Red, Roomba (sage), Roomba Discovery, or Roomba Discovery SE is indicating a full charge, but it only runs for 15 minutes when you press clean, you need to reset the charging system. You can do this by removing the battery from the robot and unplugging the charger from the wall and robot. Please hold the power button down for 30 seconds. You then should charge the robot....."
I am doing this right now and will let you know how it works out. |

I have a lot of wooden furniture and it tears up the brush in 3-4 weeks. I'm getting tired of replacing them. ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Dataman at Oct 26, 2008 4:32:11 PM] |

As a matter of fact, I am still on the original set and they still look pretty good. |

Dave, Keith: I will be happy to help. Barring unforeseen circumstances, I will be near my computer between now and Christmas (probably even then). If you can give me the proper instruction, I should be able to pick it up for you in your absence. Send me the instructions before you go so I can make a practice run on them if you want. Dave, if you want to do it, that is fine with me...I will serve as a backup. Whatever you guys want. Regards RT -- thanks. It is probably better to have you scheduled to do it with me backup the way my health has been lately. Besides, it spreads the wealth around a bit. I did it a year ago for Keith, Jonathan just recently did it. It is pretty simple. You just go to the our team page here on WCG, under the heading "Team Member Details and Statistics" you click on Sorted By "Points Generated". When you get to the list, expand it out to 250 records per page and finally, copy/paste all of the data lines from each page into a flat file (Notepad page) and save it. If you really work at it, you can make the effort take a whole five minutes. Actually, it's even easier than that. I use this URL: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTe...amp;numRecordsPerPage=350 That gets the entire team on one page so all you have to do then is select the part that list the details for each member (from Marysduby down to Jayan Thettath), copy and paste that into Notepad. Save it as a text file. If you go ahead and send to me then, keep a copy until I'm back and confirm with you that I have all the files. With the spam like it is these days, it doesn't take long for my inbox to fill when I'm gone. |

Sounds like your little dog was ready to tear up some coyote ***... :) Wait, you live where you can have a coyote in your yard? Mike.. Hi Mike. Good to hear from you again. You've been busy lately I take. Hope things are going well. Breaking into a highly specialized field like you want has to be extra tough. There's a surprising amount of wildlife in towns these days. Atlanta has a pair of Perigrine Falcons that decided to call one of the town skyscrapers home. We've had coyote in an area called Buckhead. That's the "old money" section of Atlanta. You've got downtown, midtown above that and then Buckhead. CEOs and fooltball team owners like to nest there. I'm about 60-65 miles north-northwest of downtown. It still fairly rural out here but "civilization" is only about 15 minutes away and subdivisions are starting to pop up in the area. Haven't seent any bear here though we've had a couple hit and killed on the loop freeway down in the old "burbs". Supposedly, the eastern rattlers are common up here, at least according to the neighbors. They must stick to the woods though. All I've seen snake-wise was a baby copperhead sunning on the road once. Squirrel, rabbit, turtles and frogs are common as are deer (some white tail but mostly mule). There's a brood of wild turkey that come through the yard on occassion lately. There's about two dozen of them in the brood. During the warm weather, the circadia can really liven the place up. Add a few monkeys howling and you'd swear you were in the jungle from the sound of it. Kind of a bit of the best of both worlds I guess. |

Oh BTW, while I'm thinking about it, I've gotten the HOF points banners updated for the conversion to credits and set them up for our other projects. At 63 per project times 16 projects plus an all-around category, there are plenty of them. From what I have seen, it looks like WCG is about the only place that tracks more that credits(points). Still, I should update the results and runtime ones for WCG to be project specific. That and the 1300ish smilies we have will make for plenty of TINYUrls to set up. I think next though is finishing the prep for the WCG conversion to credits. I'll need to update the stats cooker and convert a good year's worth of data I've accumulated. I've picked up a few books too so I can get some real meat put on to the website after that. With work appearing to settle back in to "normal insanity", I'm hoping to have a bit more time. At least with the cooler weather, I'll have a break from the mowing - that's at least four hours a pop alone.
