Dr. Mike, you must be down in the Houston area. Parmesian is down the coast to the southwest of there. He may take a direct hit or be just to the left of Ike's eye. As big as that thing is, the whole Texas and Louisiana coast will feel it. With the evacuations happening there, hope you both fare well and can come back to what you leave.

I will likely have to go into work tomorrow and stay for a couple of days. And I would be working the E.R. of course! (about as bad as it gets when people realize they can travel safely...) I'll be fine.. I hope everyone else stays safe too! :) Dr. Mike.. ![]() ![]() |

Spent 11 years in DFW area and wife's family is a couple hours east of there with relatives in Austin and Houston as well. Looks like you'll just get the fringe then but I think Parmesian is very close to taking a pretty direct hit. Last I read, it's targeting Freeport. The newest update from the National Hurricane Center appears to have it making landfall about 1AM Saturday, heading north about what looks like a four hour drive's distance by 1PM Saturday where it will still have hurricane force winds, then making a beeline for Texarkana on to the southeast corner of Missouri as a depression. Eastern Texas looks like it's gonna take a beating. |

It's a tough job, but somebody has to buy the toys. Had to -- look at the price! Also, the copy says, "Perfect for ages 8-80." I fit that profile.

Yeah, shipping is a bit much, but I have "needed" to play with one of these for a long while and, even with shipping, it comes in way under others I've seen. |

I think we old vets would like to "drive" that Huey that got us around. I've had one of these all summer. So far I have learned:1) At some point in my life ... my hand-to-eye coordination disappeared. 2) My reaction time is about the same as a dead turtle. 3) Oak tree vs. chopper ... tree always wins. 4) You can scare the hell out of a tree squirrel!! 5) It is frustrating but fun!! Warning: The inexpensive ones can only go up and down and yaw left and right. No bank and no backward. And ... I'll be gotohell if I can make mine hover. Every flight ends with a crash of some kind. *** I'll be away 'til early next week. Will be shutting down as it is still to warm to keep them running with the house closed up. The weather station will be up but it is running POEM. Keep up the good work MOT!! ![]() ![]() |

Yeah -- I suppose we are a bit older than those guys that flew us around nearly 40 years ago -- come to think of it, they were younger than me then as I had my 27th birthday in country! Hope you will be off enjoying yourself and we will see you when you get back. |
