Re: .

And some regulation, one sec on two days love struck

Fellow who build this frankenwatchen, did some nice work regulating this +5 s/d, but of course did want to do my own adjustment.
This one have different (B-type) movement than Monster, think main difference is balance spring.
It was easy to notice while regulating this, while Monster is like coffee with milk, this one is more like coffee with cream.
Sure is very nice watch, weights only 95g ( 3 ounce ) with natostrap (which is very ugly regarding office ladies) , which is very less since watch is pure diver.

Since Swiss did end (last week) €uro <-> franc floor, price of Swiss watches has kind of been sky-rocketing.
Nice on that matter that those I have, are relatively expensive piece of art now.
But on another hand, service prices will also go up like these no tomorrow, so more like s*it hit the fan scenario.
Got some serious overheads coming. Price of oil change (no any parts included) was something like 500€ when I last checked, and it is something that need to be done apout once on five years.
It would need to be some very specific Swiss watch, before I would buy another item from there. Some really odd/rare piece.

Re: .

Nice watch, even if the office ladies do not like the strap.

Interesting sidelight. "Syota" which I believe means "enter" in English, means "sweetheart" in Filipino. Courtesy of Google translate. laughing

Cheers

Another downside of working on office, where majority of chairs is occupied by ladies.
Biggest one is cat fights. Kind of cute when teenagers get these, but when middle aged PhD's perform such act, it's not so funny any more. Especially when it become daily behaver.

But sure, I'm not aloud to wear narrow belts, have moustache or natostraps.
Cannot imagine amount of noise if I would ask somebody not to wear muumuu because might get from harpoon in Norway...

My pap told that he did receive finger few times when running department. Think I can understand clearly why. Especially why he was laughing out of aloud, when he was telling these stories...

Oh, what a mental picture you weave. If it is as you describe, the only thing to do is stand back and watch, then laugh later.

Cheers

Re: .

Hi Joe smile

Sure, have been some very busy lately again.
Working once again on kind of inter-continental work hours or something. Half of crew (me/myself/I) here and rest on somewhere over the rainbow.

This time somehow more comforting on that matter, that another half start when my own day is on final straight.
Some years ago did have combination Nordic <-> U.S.A; and dear s*it those fellows did have meetings something like 3 a.m. local time.

Now working with this southern peninsula on Mongolia (also known as India) and they want to start more like 3 p.m.
Really does not make much sense, since they are +4h local time, but because nothing ever make any sense on with those dude(ttes), it just make perfect sense.

Really wish I would have time to wrote more, but really need to go again.... (Please read: I do not have a life outside office).

Re: .

You say no life outside of the office. I can identify with that to some extent. Before I retired I worked in an area which ran 24/7. The last 10 years or so, being in an administrative position, I was the point of contact for problems on a 24/7 basis. It did not bother me to get a phone call at any time of the day or night, but it did bother my wife. Most problems I could fix or or suggest a fix over the phone, but sometimes needed to go in. I sometimes made it a point to show up on weekends and holidays to show appreciation for those who had to work on those days. I would also sometimes show up in the middle of the night so I did not lose touch with those working on the midnight shift. I enjoyed it to my last day. I hope you enjoy your work as much.

Cheers

Re: .

Thnks Joe, these "small" stories are nice to read, so do not hide your candle.

I'm myself witnessing something I would call third wave of outsourcing.

First one was raise of Indian engineer, about ten years ago. All the sudden every second chair was occupied some dude who has picture on his wall where (s)he was riding elephant etc.

Second one was that hold units was build by outsourced labour, inside company although.

Third one, all those services (almost hold divisions) are bought from some distance companies.
This is different since those fellows are not any more on same company, so all communication occurs with forms, blankets, work request, etc. Company <-> demarcation line <-> company.
This time it is not possible to chat out that "how about if you would try this way..." This time it just is painful role me to watch from shadow how everything can go so very severely wrong. There is just no way me to intervene work methods of another company.

But sure, I'm one who has to give face on local level to their work, so I have need to use even Draconian methods (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draco_%28lawgiver%29) to get cultures meet.
On my last difficult case, I was twice buried with paper avalanche, they did meet dead end on technical matter, so my matter did just get back to non-active status waiting somebody to try again inside very big team.
After one month did escalate team-leader as part of my request, keeping him on to-field on every email I send. And sure I did send query every morning. Team leader did point couple of time dude with name to solve my issue, but nothing just did not happen. So some escalation again.
Next twist was try to move it to HR-matter, kind of check has these authorisation accepted by right persons etc. Well, got those stripes also, so did authorise every detail myself add next dude on their hierarchy to my every morning email.

Finally it was time to add dude carrying Global Service Manager title to my mail. I sure did have cold sweat when I send that mail, it was kind of declaration of war to tie big leader to very small matter, but I sure did have some very nice case record to show why it was absolutely necessary. I was cruel (for them) but fair (to my folks).
She sure did lost every bolt from hers bucket, I did get so odd text on my chat window, that I did need to shut myself out from it. Think first time when that has happen on my work life. She's carrying theory was, that it is not possible that everybody on her's organisation has been lost. As much as I did dare to read, she really exploded.
And then back to emails, I did explain situation once again and this time did overrule every argument that she explained, and sure kept all hierarchy below her on cc-field.
I did make very clear that I do not have any personal opinion on matter, everything I'm presenting is pure technical data and all can be easily check from my request log that they have create.

Did not hear another word from there, but my technical matter sure was solved between Saturday and Sunday night.
Luckily did not need to get my own bosses on Nordic tied to this, obviously reason why they hired me for this job.

Re: .

That was a good story. I liked it. It is too bad you you had to keep going up the supervisory ladder, but you did get the matter resolved, eventually.

She sure did lost every bolt from hers bucket

That is the first time I have ever seen this expression, but I liked it and I know exactly what you mean with it. biggrin

Cheers
