Something I have never forgotten and something I beleive you need to learn. A little human compassion. *********loonym had a genuine concern, but piling on doesn't help. The admins made the decisions about opting-in. We're just out here taking the flak to prove that we don't have a deaf ear until something is redecided. It's on the agenda. Sir: If bringing up a legitimate concern makes me a trouble maker then it is so. I don't see it that way. Perhaps you'd be happier if we were mild as sheep to be driven by you in any direction you chose. Some may be that way but I am not. *****Thanks for your time. Edit: To any Xs or Teddies members: Please do not post in this thread. Losing ones temper does not help. Thank you. **Edited for intolerance** ![]() [Edit 4 times, last edit by TKH at May 18, 2008 1:46:20 PM] |

loonym, I am so sorry.
----------------------------------------It's good that you have such a gentle and caring doctor, and the love of your darling daughter. May blessings fall on your house, loony. . [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at May 18, 2008 4:17:39 AM] |

I have very little association with XS and The Teddies other than knowing just a few people on both teams. I crunch for an entirely different team although that really doesn’t matter…. I rarely post here anymore but I do look in from time to time. What does matter is when I checked in here tonight and read loonym’s post. I do not know this person at all but I can tell you that his post brought tears to my eyes. Again, I don’t know loonym whatsoever but his story touched me. **** One offers sympathy and hope that the person involved finds that miracle that will save their life. I couldn’t agree more…. Well said Movieman. Loonym, my heart goes out to you. I believe in miracles. We plant seeds, nurture and care for them and trust flowers will grow. What we’ve worked and hoped for doesn’t show until one morning we wake to find a field of miracles. Never stop believing, I hope a miracle awaits you soon….. And remember in the quiet moments when the hurt is hard to bear, may love become your shelter and may the beauty of precious memories be your comfort. You are held in gentle thought and prayer. *smiles* **Edited for intolerance** ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by TKH at May 18, 2008 1:27:33 PM] |

I didn't join to crunch for folly or points. If I wanted that I'd stargaze. I crunch for XS, read into that what you will, but only because it's the best team on the planet. This is a repost from my March 13 introductory post there: ------------------------ As I said at the start, I'm not sure why I'm writing this but I will be running boinc and hopefully my daughter won't have to sit with her family 30 years from now and have a weeping doctor deliver this kind of news. A side note. The operation went poorly, my cancer is fully outside the bladder, attached to the bowel and pelvis, inoperable. I'm entering clinical trials next month at Dana Farber Cancer Institute. For research only, I'm incurable with stage 4 T4 bladder cancer. Want some rice??? ![]() I can understand your interest in cancer, but one thing I don't understand is why are you comparing it to rice? I understand you are dying, I understand you care about your daughter, but what about those who will never live old enough to get a cancer? What about those who are dying because there is nothing to eat? I don't have cancer, I don't even know anyone who has cancer, but that doesn't stop me from participating in cancer projects, ***** Do you really wan't me to stop working on cancer just because I don't have any personal connection to it? Do you really want everybody to focus on their own problems? If you wan't my support, don't try to take that away from people who are dying because there isn't enough rice. You are all people, nothing more, nothing less. You are all important. If you say those people are not worth it, then I might as well say ****. **Edited for intolerance** [Edit 1 times, last edit by TKH at May 18, 2008 1:55:33 PM] |

To the OP, my very best wishes. I understand you want to crunch the project you opted in for, I chose the projects I wanted for similar reasons, only to have them changed.
----------------------------------------By the way, I am not a member of XS or Teddies either, you don't need to be to get snide comments ******. Just being here seems to be enough. **Edited for intolerance** [Edit 1 times, last edit by TKH at May 18, 2008 2:05:56 PM] |

The other CAs recommended that I ignore you. I'll start now. Just for the record, you, (The CA's) do a great job, giving your time to help people you don't know work through there Boinc problems, freely, whilst still using your computers to work on ALL of the projects past, present and futor. Thanks |

I didn't sign up to the nutritious rice project to help some *****. I'll make sure to opt out of recieving other work units if there are no rice work units available.

Some of us don't feel right about crunching for rice industry profits. It's about having a choice, simple.

Just for the record, you, (The CA's) do a great job, giving your time to help people you don't know work through there Boinc problems, freely, whilst still using your computers to work on ALL of the projects past, present and futor. Thanks Indeed they do, as do many other non-CA's too - they do a fantastic job helping here imparting a wealth of knowledge. I'm not sure however that is the issue being described here though, it seems to me its more to do with certain attitudes that have become more prevalent recently. CA's are members just like us who act as volunteers to become advisers on this forum - they are not WCG staff, they are not moderators, and they don't represent the views of WCG, they are here to help and advise and are our 'human' link between this place and WCG, passing on our issues and concerns to the staff and vice-versa. CA's are human, they have the same traits and faults as all of us do - they hurt like we do when criticised, they make mistakes like we do, they have good and bad days like we do - they are us in every way......except additionally they have certain responsibilities too. What I have noticed more recently is a more arrogant and aloof attitude being purveyed towards the membership at times, - some very short dismissive replies to problems and concerns, and in a few cases rudeness and uncaring responses. I'm sure that often these are not meant that way and can be put down to having a bad day, the fact that the written word can be misinterpreted, or possibly even exasperation - however as members with additional responsibilities advisers need to be aware of how they can come across, and where mistakes have been made show a willingness to admit and apologise. It is poignant that the last few spats here on this forum have been as a result of insensitive comments made by advisers which could have been nipped in the bud with a short and frank apology but instead were allowed to fester which then resulted in abusive language and posts. We are all human here, we all make errors of judgment and mistakes, and all members should be man (or woman) enough to admit and apologise when such things happen. I hope this post is taken in the right way and context - it is not meant as a dig towards the advisers here who do great job, its merely to make folks aware of how their comments and the way they are said and written can be interpreted by others. Now lets get back to being that friendly tolerant forum again, and do what we do best - crunch!!!! ![]() |

Dear Soylent you really are a piece of work. Ady and Dave men of reason as always. And the other that finally convenienced a stubborn girl with a temper to edit her offensive post. ![]() *** Edited for inappropriate language*** [Edit 2 times, last edit by TKH at May 18, 2008 12:58:57 PM] |
