So, right now I'm running my Q6600 at a stable 3.375 ghz per core. That makes 13.5 ghz overall or an improvement of 3.9 ghz over the stock performance. I call that respectable! Work units fly by at incredible speed! He's just addicted now. *sees sparks fly past his head* Yeah, I got addicted to car tuning, and almost blew up my engine a few times. I'm afraid I might reprise my role and become MOT's idiot in change of destroying processors. Oh Jonathan ... you have a long, long way to go to catch me at destroying PC's. Looks like WCG got it up again ... Viagra in the servers? ![]() I don't stand a chance against an overclocked Quad. ![]() Actually, it's not overclocked all the time. I only have it oced when I'm out not using the pc. When I'm playing games or using it a ton, I scale it back down to 2.4 ghz per core. And to be honest, I don't feel ANY difference oced or not while gaming. Maybe a FPS or two in Bioshock, but otherwise, identical. When are you going to OC your quad Blizzie? |

I might be able to acquire some funds from the Harvard Humanist community if I were able to assure them that they were being used for crunching. If I recall, my Asus p5k premium was about 120ish, I'm sure you can find a slightly cheaper one or a better deal. Let me know. Also, why do I need to hardcore stability test? I figure if I can run advanced games like Bioshock while running WCG and not have any hiccups, it must be stable, or at least stable enough. Right? |

No. It has to pass the stability test for at least 8 hours. You don't want to be submitting bad results to WCG anyways. And yea. A motherboard would be about $100. Parents aren't going to get me anything else. Getting a Quad just for crunching and electricity bill is already pushing it. Besides, if you can get your hands on a motherboard, go ahead and use it for yourself. =) Anyways... Mother's Day *runs off* [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 11, 2008 4:17:51 PM] |
