Hypersonic weapon travels Mach 20
In the past the U.S. Military has tested hypersonic glider weaponry, unfortunately then ran into complications when their glider vanished from their control screens. Now they have tested the Hypersonic Technology Vehicle 2 (HTV2) with much greater results. The vehicle is the first-of-its-kind vehicle designed to fly within the Earth's atmosphere at hypersonic speeds..... |

ESA´s space weather box Proba-2 tracks stormy Sun
Researchers gathered for European Space Weather Week have been presented with the latest results from ESA’s own space weather station: the Proba-2 microsatellite. The unpredictably stormy Sun drives space weather: surges of charged particles can damage satellites, impede space-based services and affect terrestrial power networks. Less than a cubic metre, Proba-2 was launched on 2 November 2009 as a technology demonstrator but is now working as a science mission, having exceeded its two-year design life. Proba-2 science data are also useful for space weather monitoring: two instruments watch the Sun, with two more studying the Sun’s influence on Earth’s topmost ionosphere. .... |

You can have here the video of the flight: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hxgil43D81I Speed is really tremendous when you see the span of sky the object does cover in such a short time, knowing that the object is at high altitude. ![]() |

X-37B â The Gift That Keeps On Giving Video provided courtesy of United Launch Alliance The United States Air Forceâs second flight of the X-37B â is headed into extra innings. Known as the Orbital Test Vehicle 2 (OTV-2) this robotic mini space shuttle launched from Cape Canaveral Air Force Stationâs Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) on Mar. 5, 2011. Although the U.S. Air Force has kept mum regarding details about the space planeâs mission â it has announced that the OTV-2 has exceeded its endurance limit of 270 days on orbit as of the end of November. The OTV is launched atop a United Launch Alliance (ULA) Atlas V 501 rocket. The space plane is protected within a fairing until it reaches orbit. After separation, the diminutive shuttle begins its mission. |

WASHINGTON – The U.S. is becoming increasingly aware and concerned about the possibility within a few years of an electromagnetic pulse attack from an enemy's high-altitude nuclear explosion. The impact would include the loss of critical U.S. electrical infrastructure that could send the nation back into an 18th century agrarian economy, according to a report from Joseph Farah's G2 Bulletin.
----------------------------------------But experts have warned that such an attack could produce conditions more difficult than the 18th century due to the considerable increase in population and the total reliance by society on electricity and technology for life-sustaining factors, such as food production and delivery. Also hit would be transportation, medical and emergency services, telecommunications, and the economic and financial system. Republican presidential candidate and former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Newt Gingrich, in a nationally televised presidential debate, recently declared that the potential for an EMP attack is perhaps the most serious national security threat facing the United States today. However, there is another threat looming that is not only possible but actually forecast, and it could fry electronics and knock out the transformers in the national electric grid system. $2 trillion sunstorm coming, NASA warns http://www.wnd.com/?pageId=373629#ixzz1ffPMb0IE |

You're reading too many *out* of space / spaced out websites and diatribe. Please remove your US political messages and let space news be space news.

$2 trillion sunstorm coming, NASA warns Ok here is my question about that post title.... I have just spent 30 min looking at all the official news reports from NASA on there official website.... but have not read ANYTHING that leads me to believe anything like that article you posted. yes we have had some increases in solar storm activity... guess what its a cycle and we know about it. problem with web news is consider the source. if you want info from NASA go to NASA and not an article that is from an article about another site ![]() |
