I should have been more specific. I do that a lot. Sorry. I know my RAC is decent. In fact I just checked and apparently, I'm still in the top 100. The thing is that even though HCC ended months ago, I'm still on the sugar buzz of getting hundreds of thousands of boinc points in a single day and I've never really adjusted to going back to the 'normal' pace of things. As Chapelle's Rick James might say 'GPU computing - it's a heck of a dr*g.' But I promise not to complain about that every . . . single . . . day.  So try not to read anything into the fact that I might, completely inadvertently and unconsciously, just happen to work it into every post.  (kidding  )Back on topic though, what I meant by 'glacial' was my work ethic. I tend to be really, painfully slow when it comes to getting things done. I really need to try to get a little more motivated. twilyth, I fully understand that as well. The problem is, the WCG opened Pandora's Box and many of us bought nice GPU cards to be able to crunch Cancer work-units. Most of us started out as 'Cancer Crunchers' and were very happy to crunch it using a GPU which was actually 'nicer' to your computer as well (less wear and tear with temps running less because of less CPU usage). Well, that is how it worked out for me. And getting 300 to 400+ results were just awesome to see! And 'glacial' is my work ethic as well (has to be for anyone in this business) because it is a tremendously challenging environment (IT Recruiting in the Large Enterprise). It was a fantastic field to work in because the competition was really awesome. Kinda like swimming with all the sharks everyday.  Then, much larger companies had bought most of these great software start-ups that were developing uber important Enterprise Configuration Management tools that are needed for any organization to be secure and running 24x7. I cannot wait to re-join in the hunt!. And if that won't happen, there will be more advanced software tools/programming languages, etc. That is the 'Way' in the High Technology field. Always has been; finding better methods to improve many categories that are even more important today than ever in so many sectors. Oh well, working at home today because of weather conditions (flash floods are dangerous, sometimes even more so in mountainous terrains). Have a great day all! Welcome back Doneske! I noticed someone kicking my butt in the stats so I guess I'll need to see what I can do about that.
---------------------------------------- I have been trying to get a dualie back on line but the KVM I was using seems to be borked. So I tried another one and that didn't work either. I have a couple more I can try but I get frustrated and then have to get psyched again. Plus things are so disorganized I can never find things when I need to. [Sigh] I think you'll still be ahead of me though in the dailies. It's a dual hex core but I don't think it does more or than 4-5k per day. I'm not even sure. It depends a lot on what it's crunching I think. Anyway, good to have you here even if you do run over me on a daily basis.  |
