Strange how you machine seems to be the ONLY one out of hundreds of thousands that you claim BOINC causes to hang....100,000's v yours....yours ok the rest wrong....naw, yours has to be the faulty component, not BOINC...

----------------------------------------what security software are you running? The blocking of RPC traffic over localhost has the occasional affect of making the screensaver interaction with the core client to get disrupted and causing severe system sluggishness or unresponsiveness of the screensaver. Best is to not use the BOINC screensaver / graphics. It a good CPU cycle waster, however nice the eye candy is and has been a source of trouble for some which is hopefully permanently fixed in the next BOINC release (v6). WCG has already started to convert the graphics and completed the conversion for the FAAH & DDDT projects. ttyl
