Oh, yes. Miriam Makeba and her "click" songs ... a long time ago- our collective memory will travel a long way here, bjbdbest, you, Ghostie, you name'em, helping out It's easy to see why the Danish version is called "Vimmersvej" - "Wimoweh" I still wish I had the name of the On the Road Again singer. I think I heard him before. Would collective listening do the trick? Your last contribution is hard to sing: This video contains content from SME, who has blocked it in your country on copyright grounds. Sorry about that. - how come they single out us Danes??? |

@ biaxaake-taatawe,
----------------------------------------I cannot claim any native Americana blood but..... I had me a dog that we called Ishie .. Always having had dogs & when Ishie arrived we already had two, Ishies mother and grandmother there fore we declared no more, Ishie was last of the tribe ... I got the name from a film I had seen, a rather sad film but it stuck with me "Ishi, the Last Yahi " The film was based on true events but telling and retelling over the years had blurred the edges . The end result tho was there were no more Yahi We thought that when our Ishie went to the happy hunting ground there would be no more dogs.. But A man needs a Dog Just like He needs a Shed Thanks for Listening "Den Quixotic" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dlt6k7tn3ME&feature=related |

Russian visit to Lancaster! Very nice - and colorful
Have you ever tried if you could do that cossack dance? It really pulls teeth - certainly not for couch potatoes .... Yes, that Red Army Choir enevitably makes the hairs in the back of your neck stand at attention ... In Yalta, the Crimea, we saw a show by The Russian Black Sea Fleet Orchestra and Choir. It was a little touristy, but I don't mind: They could sing and play to boot. Also got the chance to visit Lavidia Palace where the Yalta Conference was held - same table same chairs - here Uncle Josef sat, there FDR, and Winston, too. Oh, that makes aforementioned hairs do the trick again. |

The sorrow doesn't lift fast. So what are you gonna do? Stick to the "no more dogs" or to the "A Man needs a Dog Just like He needs a Shed"? It's your decision, but I think you may have a shelter where A Dog needs a Man as He Needs Freedom for Hunger and an Abundant Supply of Love |

So chances are, Pate will have a successor.
Look forward to hearing about it It's an astonishing wire horse - holding two grown men! No, I have not seen War Horse. Is it made into a movie? I made a note of the book, tho. One of these days, I'm going to teach myself to read again - lack of concentration kept me from it - and fatigue due to too little sleep makes me fall asleep every time I pick up the book ... |

Good Morning Base Campers
----------------------------------------Status: rwillis left Trek #28 yesterday. Thank you very much for your participation and contribution. Thank you to deltavee for finding out that the singer in On the Road Again is called Teddy Goldstein. Culture Music: Gee, Base Camp has almost evolved into a Juke Box that runs around the clock .... Why not let the first one be Wake up Little Suzie Yukon from Jekatarinburg tells me that Linda is Russia's answer to Björk from Icland. Here Linda sings: Nikogda Finally, you can listen to a powerful rendition of the poem "Kringsatt av Fiender" by Norwegian Nordahl Grieg. You can read about it here: Kringsatt av Fiender and listen here: Kringsatt av Fiender by Kim Larsen The poem in English translation by Rod Sinclair: Faced by your enemies On every hand Battle is menacing, Now make your stand Fearful your question, Defenceless, open What shall I fight with? What is my weapon? Here is your battle plan, Here is your shield Faith in this life of ours, The common weal For all our children's sake, Save it, defend it, Pay any price you must, They shall not end it Neat stacks of cannon shells, Row upon row Death to the life you love, All that you know War is contempt for life, Peace is creation Death's march is halted By determination We all deserve the world, Harvest and seed Hunger and poverty Are born of greed Don't turn your face away From needs of others Reach out a helping hand To all your brothers Here is our solemn vow, From land to land We will protect our world From tyrants' hand Defend the beautiful, Gentle and innocent Like any mother would Care for her infant. Advertisement: Would you like to be part of the Base Camp experience? You can. Please join us now. Edit: Björk should be Björk and not Björk - this bulleting board is kaputt at its fringes on and off - wonder if it could be fixed ... ?
