Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Here we go little mermaid o/

Do not be afraid, what could happen to you between Nap and me? In addition, one can admire the landscapes while remaining very far from the edge. And the few places where we would have a very small chance of falling, there are barriers. As it is a tourist site, everything is secure.

And then as you are showing courage today, the next visit, we will look at the mountains below.

wink

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Thank you, climbing between you, stefada, and nap I feel perfectly secure. tongue
Looking at the Notre Dame de Desert from another angle, I cannot help but think of the construction workers who built this
- and all the donkeys hauling up the materials for this enchanting church.
By the way: Did we remember bringing a picnic basket?

The picture I link to has 'Pyrénées' in it. For some murky reason I always thought they were smack on your border with Spain
- but of course, they have to start somewhere.
And gradually, not vertically. blushing

When visiting Boise, Idaho, many years ago (unfortunately, I didn't know nap at the time), I noticed that there was a Basque population group , which I found remarkable. It seems as if the immigrants sought out places in their new country that had features similar to those in their old one.
Watching this video I notice the male dancers have jingle bells tied around their calves pretty much as the Morris Dancers have in England.

Isn't it a wonderful and wondrous world?
Do the Basques also live north of the Pyrénées in France?

So, where are we going tomorrow, Stefada?
Say, do you by any means work as a tourist guide professionally, stefada?

EDIT: Added an 'in' that was missing blushing

----------
For the picnic, I planned very simple, but typically Aveyron. Bread, wild boar paté, deer paté, dry sausage, Roquefort, and of course the bottle of wine that goes with it!

----------
For the next excurtion, we will go down in altitude ... And yet, no, we will not go back to the floor of the cows (as we say in French). It's better if there are surprises, no? Since Our Lady of the Desert, you have seen the Tarn from very high, and well now we will go on. There is no quieter river, and so canoeing (with lots of initiation for children). I propose you to go under this magnificent waterfall, in canoe:

Bienvenue à Saint Rome de Tarn, surtout connu ici pour sa base nautique. Mais aussi pour son petit restaurant dans le centre (enfin, surtout pour son cuisinier, les gourmands m'auront compris). Et pour mieux vous faire une idée, regardez ci-dessous si c'est pas un cadre merveilleux.
----------
Welcome to Saint Rome de Tarn, especially known here for its nautical base. But also for his small restaurant in the center (well, especially for his cook, gourmands will understand me). And to get a better idea, look below if it's not a wonderful setting.

----------
It's good, everyone is ready for a small canoe trip?

biggrin

----------
PS: No, I do not work at all in tourism, it's just that you have joined our team and looking curious camping at home, so I show you the corners where we want to camping.

----------
PPS: For Basques, there are two sides of the Pyrenees, France and Spain

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Yes, I know there are two sides of the Pyrénées. But I thought the Basques might to some extent live on both sides of the mountain range, or does it work as a wall?

In cartoons of Frenchmen they often wear what we call a 'Basque cap'. It also goes under the name of an 'Alp cap' but maybe that is not native to the Basque region at all.

That was an absolutely delicious meal you had packed for us. Now I can roll down the trail now without any assistance ... and land right at 'le plancher des vaches'.
What a beautiful expression love struck

I really look forward to our trip tomorrow. I can paddle a canoe, I can swim if it turns over, too, and I will be the 'Mermaid of the Mist' going under the waterfall. And I'm absolutely sure I can eat at that gourmet restaurant at the centre of the beautiful village, too.
I cannot wait till the sun rises, stefada tongue

I'm sorry I am such a poor recruiter sad
I'm taking this personally, because I cannot anything wrong with the perks
- just take a second look at those pictures put up by stefada .... cool
EDIT: Stefada -> two times blushing I'm sorry; I seem to have a thing with names.

----------
Regarding the Basques, I can not tell you how it goes between those of France and those of Spain.

In the caricatures of the French, indeed, it is a baguette of bread and a bottle of wine in the hands, and a Basque béret. And it is traditionally worn in this region.

----------
If you are skilled with a canoe, there is a little game to do when you arrive at the waterfall. It consists of passing between the waterfall and the fallaise, without getting wet. Of course we are always a little splash, but it's funny, in addition to giving a point of view quite unique.

And don't worry, even if it's not my job, for campers I would be happy to serve as a guide.

Basque béret ....
And it is traditionally worn in this region.
One more reason to enjoy your region.

I have practised "The Greenland Roll" which is really hard to do - and survive - in a canoe.
Being a mermaid I love splashing, so bring it on, stefada cool
I'm sure I'll have the time of my life tomorrow - well, it's almost tomorrow ...
And don't worry, even if it's not my job, for campers I would be happy to serve as a guide.
And we Base Campers really appreciate all you are doing for us. You should be the tourism minister of your region
- if not of all of France!

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

nap cannot join the challenge because his Team Boise Idaho captain is incommunicado
sujo1 cannot join the Base Camp trek to Team Kraland because he is a captain
- but!
sujo1 is a captain
so he can join that challenge and he has indeed done so
- and!
if nap and I move to Serious Crunchers when our present trek is done
- that's November 5th, right, Saphir12/Stefada?
it can all come together so beautifully, eh?

nap, what do you say?
- deltavee, you may be busy, but the information is here and you know any visit
- long or French visit will be appreciated
We happen to call short visits French visits in Denmark

Halloween challenge ends on the 5, yes. And Kraland challenge begins on the 8.
So yes, you can move to Serious Cruncher to help them. Sujo will feel less alone. smile
It's a good idea. Challenge are just for the fun, crunching (heu... i think our work is call like that ?) is more important wink

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

bill1024 I'm looking for some assistance for a WCG Challenge.
This one:
The Kraland Challenge
information
The fun thing is that I would like anyone who has a heart and a crunching machine to join Team Serious Crunchers
which has entered the challenge before or on November 8th 2017. I plan to join there at November 5th or 6th.
I shall join a WCG challenge of your choice as payment.
I only do WCG, though, and I can muster only 11 cores/kernels/whatever.
The EVGA Forum is down, so I couldn't post there. I hope you find this.
Thank you for reacting to my post.
