Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

nap, once again I made a roll call and once again with you and me as the only one raising our hands
- not forgetting deltavee's contribution, though.
What do I do wrong, Neil?
Could you suggest some better sales pitch?
What do you think could appeal to crunchers of today?
Could we still offer toasters?
Or maybe mittens and balaklavas?
Sleigh dogs?
Toboggans?
Snowmobiles?
I would really like to hear your advise on this matter.

In the meantime fellow crunchers
the door is wide open at Boise Idaho

- and we're waiting for you smile

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

nap, I consulted you, and you gave an interesting piece of advice - almost in the form the Oracle of Delphi would have used smile

Firstly, I shall commend you for using the word 'perchance'. It derives from old French and the use of it has dropped dramatically.

In Denmark at an art museum they have created a Reserve for Endangered Words the idea being that people begin using them again so they will not become extinct.

Well, nap said:
WCG was in its youth as was Base Camping, and all participants were young and vigorous. Now that it has matured, perchance the members have Thomas Wolfe syndrome and cannot "Go Home Again.?

In Thomas Wolfe's book 'You Can't Go Home Again' the main character writes a book that deals with his hometown and the people there. Those people got very offended and aggressive, so he has to realize, that: "You can't go back home to your family, back home to your childhood ... back home to a young man's dreams of glory and of fame ... back home to places in the country, back home to the old forms and systems of things which once seemed everlasting but which are changing all the time – back home to the escapes of Time and Memory."
Thomas Wolfe and nap may very well be right. I may be trying to squeeze blood from a turnip .... I have realized that times are changing, though (scroll back in this thread, and you will find plenty of lamentation).
180 degrees? Hey, I'll go for 360 degrees!
OK, 358 degrees then good luck
But let's celebrate young and vigorous Team Kraland rose by letting Charles Aznavour look back ...

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

There is no way to get around these smart Frenchmen
- so we may as well drop the other shoe.
Yes, nap, I should have consulted you, but it's night in Idaho and all of Europe is up now after nine hours of sleep - we went back to astronomical time overnight.

Well, nap himself is the most vigorous and young at heart of all of us ...
He cleared his cookies and his cache last night and moved to France to drop some points with team Kraland
- and I joined this master of imagination and now we're two Base Campers roaming France; surely it begins to look like a trek
- and even one that starts out as what us Base Campers call a Sneaky Pete cool

- deltavee I would'ave notified you if I could'ave done so
- if you feel like a swift trip to France,
I have a ticket for you that will put you on the fast track smile

Thought all present and coming Base Campers might as well take a
crash course in French because we are going places now:

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

You are Welcome!
Thanks to nap's smart thinking, we are now three Base Campers in what looks like a very, very pretty part of France.
Montpellier - I think Norwegian Air goes there
Cahors some 2 hours' drive to the west-north-west from your home is home to our French Prince Henrik (Henri - unfortunately now suffering from Alzheimer's) and his wife Queen Margrethe's wine castle Caïx.
I never saw much of France. The Invasion Coast, Honfleur, Strasbourg - I plan to live long enough to see some more ....
Look at this - that's what Base Campers get to enjoy
+ kisses from the Kraland Capitaine biggrin
New recruits wanted!

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Mayhaps, nap writes me, mayhaps we Base Campers should stay in France till the Halloween Week 2017 Point Event Challenge is over.

I would think deltavee may have an agenda on his own, and I'm just happy and grateful for him coming blasting past for the one day. But I can stay. Have nothing else but Boise Idaho planned right now. And with a prominent Boise Idaho cruncher himself defecting .... can I say, what the heck? I'll see more of France, yes, please.

And thank you, nap, for taking another endangered word for a walk

If you like this kind of landscapes, in the region you will be served! There is a lot of hiking to do, see canoe if the weather is nice. There are also many historic monuments, and what few people know, Aveyron is the french department where there are more dolmen.

And as we are next door, you can also eat Roquerfort (and good), or even visit the cellars.

Nice destination for camping no ?

wink
