Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I like it very much stefada.
We have dolmen, too, in Denmark, and we also have Roquefort - only we call it Danablu. Your Roquefort, I believe, has the EU
"Protected designation of origin (PDO), protected geographical indication (PGI), and traditional specialities guaranteed (TSG)" stamp, and your Roquefort is goat's milk based whereas ours is made from cow's milk.

I also came across your tourism website

Base Campers, tomorrow we'll make an excursion to the Roquefort Cellars cool
Not a Base Camper yet?
No problem. Just let us know you want to be one and join Team Kraland and well print a ticket for you biggrin

little mermaid

We have the equivalent of your Danablu in France, the Saint Agur. It is very good too, but because it is not the same milk, it does not have the same taste as the Roquefort (which is actually protected at the EU).

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Good Morning team Kraland
- and good morning Base Campers
- the openly dedicated, the shadowly dedicated,
and the ones who have not yet discovered that they are dedicated Base Campers deep down biggrin

It's a beautiful, crisp day and we have landed in the land that is the very concept of FOOD.
I don't recall we have ever been to France before. A major misstep now being corrected.
Today, as I promised, we shall tour the Roquefort Cellars - the maturing caves where the cheese is aged to perfect taste. And I hope our hosts will tell more about the similarities of
Roquefort - goat's milk
Danablu - cow's milk
Saint Agur - French Danablu

and perhaps let us sample a bite or two.

However, we shall begin with a hike far above the valley and enjoy the view on this clear day

- and look for stefada's dog's hat which the exhaust from deltavee's crunching farm blew halfway to the moon ...

Good morning Base Camp smile

Little mermaid, i see you watch our country. So i'll show you one very old bridge. It's called "Pont Vieux". It was build around 1270, and resisted to the inondation of novembre 28, 2014. This bridge was classified as a historical monument in 1886.

Oh, it's beautiful, Saphir12.
Such a clean design, and the fact that it survived the pressure of a lot of water may be a testimonial to good design and good craftsmanship walking hand in hand.

One more advantage of Base Camping:
You often get to see places you never dreamt of visiting
- and with local guides
love struck

little mermaid

It is indeed beautiful, and even if I go on the docks every day with my dog, I can not help but admire. Especially since this area is also a fishing reserve, so it's full of trout and ducks, and when you're lucky, you can even see a heron (I spotted one this year, but they were three last year). I love to look at the herons in flight, I find it absolutely splendid, and it happened to me to see past 3m from me.

Otherwise, to return to the old bridge, it is clear that it is beautiful work and that it will not move. Sapphire12 talked about the 2014 flood, here you can see a video. The river eventually passed over the first bridge seen on it, and tear off half of the barriers. The old bridge has not moved.

cool

I agree. The herons a so beautiful. I also enjoy seeing them both standing in the water fishing and flying with their long necks doubled back. Your herons are smart to choose a fishing reserve for their habitat biggrin In Denmark herons have become fairly common, but still it feels as an unusual and exotic sight when you see one. Their number seems to have multiplied by a factor 6 in 50 years. Very well done - and also a sign that the environment has become healthier so it is easier for them to find food.

Oh, that's very dramatic. Did anything happen to people? To the other bridges? To the houses that seem to stand with their legs in the roaring waters?

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Fortunately, there were no casualties. On the other hand, the material damage was enormous! Some houses had water up to the 2nd floor ... Three years later, when we walk along the river, we can still see the traces on some walls, from where the water rose. While normally, the level of the river is as in Saphir12's photo. It was really very impressive.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Base Campers existing ones, shadow ones, closet ones, aspiring ones
'Allo! 'Allo!
Listen very carefully, I shall say this only once
We have a unique opportunity to make a difference and we shall receive devilish great returns:
- getting all the Rocquefort we can eat and Saint Agur, too, et peutĂȘtre un peu de vin rouge aussi
- hiking and fishing
- getting to know a bunch of enthusiastic French crunchers
AND
as if this is not enough:
- piggybacking it in the Halloween Challenge as stowaway passengers, so to speak.
I shall say this only once: We are not in a challenge, but we are cool
See - we are part of the #13 place already .... we could make it #12 tomorrow if
you, yes! shhh you out there! chip in as a Base Camping migrant worker by simply joining team Kraland

I don't really know why I link to "Ne me quitte pas" it's so sad sad and Jacques Brel isn't even French.
He's Belgian. But sings in French. And he does it heartbreakingly.
Anyone who has a heart would stay with this desparate man ....
I think it's
le PASSION!
and lui le dire plus de - actuellement beaucoup de temps ...
saying it more than once - in fact many times
How could she leave?
crying
